I've been a Nord Stage 2 user for about 2 or 3 years now, and something I would really appreciate is a way to change the current selected program on my instrument with a pedal. Just a program increase message, sent or triggered by a single pedal tap would really help me out. I've been able to assign a regular $ 5 sustain pedal on my MOXF to do this, but I know Nord doesn't support this natively.
Are there any ways to make this happen, without having to spend $ 3000 on a Mac for running Mainstage?
I'm thinking maybe somehow assigning the rotary pedal input to this, or having some kind of a USB or MIDI pedal that would do the trick, since the Nord Sound Manager does enable you to send those program change messages over USB.
Has anyone had experience with this?
Thanks ahead!
Simon

Re: Changing NS2 programs with a pedal
I haven't tried any myself since I use an iPad to control my set lists/program changes (and there are Bluetooth pedals to control stepping through the set), but I have seen basic MIDI enabled pedals that will send program changes. Not quite sure how they deal with sending specific PC numbers- maybe the order can be programmed into the pedal.
Have a look on Thomann... I'm sure that's where I saw one.

Hi Simon,
Since the NOrd does not provide this function internally, you would need to purchase an external device which can do this. One common example is the Behringer pedal (FCB1010?). There are many others which will cost less than $3k.
Bless,
Pablo

Re: Changing NS2 programs with a pedal
I should hope a pedal would cost less than $3000!!!
Oh, I see what you meant now I re-read the OP.
The FCB is about £110 over here at the moment, so yep, a bargain compared to a whole computer!

Try the "MIDI Solutions Footswitch Controller":
http://www.midisolutions.com/prodfsw.htm.
Its price at Thomann is 133 euros.

Re: Changing NS2 programs with a pedal
Careful with that one. It seems that it increases up to 127, then wraps around to 0, but the NS2 has 400 programmes spread over 4 banks. You need to find out if the pedal also sends the bank change so you can access all programmes.

Re: Changing NS2 programs with a pedal
Hm... that one also sems to access only 128 patches. In the NS2 we need to access 400. I am not sure if setting the bank by hand is retained or it always default to bank A.

Re: Changing NS2 programs with a pedal
As kayj said, the best way to quickly change your programs is the iPad with the iRig controller because you can also put lyrics, mp3 and many informations you may need on stage...

It is retained until you send a new Bank Select.
