Hey all!
So as probably many others i will have a NS3 when it will be released and i´m thinking about how to get all my programs on the new NS3.
If we assume that there will not be something like an converter, there is only one solution left: Reprogramm all of them manually on the NS3.
I think thats ok for me at least, but i want know if there are any ideas that can save some time here?
Also this is related to money, because i have to sell my old NS2ex to be able to get the new one, but i can have a higher selling price as long as the new one is not released - but i will need it for the reprogramming ...
In the forums i saw a editor that shows all the settings of all the knobs - is this thing still functional?
How do you plan to do the transition exactly to the new model?

Re: Changing Boards NS2 to NS3: How to deal with programms?
I've never owned a Nord, so I don't have any direct advise. However, can't you save the individual programs on the NS2 to an external source like a USB Drive and then import them back into the NS3? How do you folks do a backup of your custom sounds on the NORD? Both Yamaha and Korg have great facilities for this and I'm assuming NORD does as well. If not, I may have to re-think my NS3 purchase.

As far as we know until this point there will be no such thing when it comes to the NS3 beacuse of its new architectur (hardware & software).
So if you "stay" within the generations (NS1 NS2 NS3) this will not be a problem for you, but unfortunatly there will be most likely no cross-backup-thingy.
Therefore i am looking for all your ideas how to deal with this easier

Allow some days having both boards side by side and manually recreate your "must have" old programs.
PS: when NS3 manuals will be available you may check if at least at the level of MIDI CCs there is some compatibility, e.g. for Organ drawbars and other controls which are common on both models, so you may at least "dump" those using the "Send Midi Ctrl" function.

Re: Changing Boards NS2 to NS3: How to deal with programms?
I already have a list of programs noting all the important settings such as effects/eq/compression etc. The two keyboards are going be very different in sound and I will program the Stag3 to suit my needs.
My plan is as follows:
1) Buy Nord Stage 3 in December (Merry Christamas to me)
2) Take a week off work and program that bad-boy up. It will also give me time to learn the new board.
I won't be able too afford a vacation (or Christmas) if I'm buying $4500 keyboard.

Re: Changing Boards NS2 to NS3: How to deal with programms?
If you (understandably) can't afford keeping the two instruments side-by-side to recreate all the programs on the Stage 3, one solution is the MIDI dump maxpiano suggested. But that is still reliant on some level of MIDI compatibility.
Another way is to write down all the settings (samples, morph, synth EQ and effects) of your programs. You can see every value on the display using shift+knob.
Painful process of course, but I think it's the only way of recreating them exactly on the NS3.
Then of course, because of the different architecture, there is no guarantee that a program with the same parameters will sound exactly the same.
But then again, they're different instruments.

So there is no facility to save program data? That is insane.

Sure there is! Its called the Nord Sound Manager:
http://www.nordkeyboards.com/software-t ... nd-manager
But most likely you will not be able to save and recall programms from the NS2 on the NS3.

Re: Changing Boards NS2 to NS3: How to deal with programms?
It will be great to see all parameters viewable on the sound manager per program.
So we could recreate a NS2 program partially Into the NS3 based on the common features they have.

That's why, if I deicde to buy a Stage 3, it will be a compact one, to get the physical drawbars but I'm not going to reprogram everything, so, I will keep my Stage 2, one on top of the other.
Stage 2/C2/NL2X+TC Pedals, 2XMatrix, EMU P2K, TX802, DSI P8/Tetra+H9, P12+TC HoF, D50+PG1000, XV5080,AX keytar, Streichfett, Drumbrute.Ibanez SR1200 & 2605 basses, Artstar AS153,G&L L2000,Legacy HSS,Asat Blueboys,Asat Deluxe Savanna.genelec 8040A.
