Button pressing problem

Postby micko001 » 21 Jun 2011, 14:32

i have noticed that whenever i press a button on my nord stage (eg. the on/off buttons to turn on the synth/organ/piano sections, the red 'store' button, or the select piano button to name a few) it seems to be very touchy and skip through a couple of options rather than go to the very next setting; eg. if i am on grand piano and i want to go to upright piano, when i press down the button it quickly skips past the upright and goes onto the elec piano setting.
this also happens when i press the Clav settings; if i am on 'A' rather than going to 'B' after one click it skips through and goes to 'C' or even 'D'.

i have tried a factory reset and nothing changes.

i am guessing this is a circuitry issue??

any thoughts?

thanks, Michael

Hello Michael,
Welcome to the forum!

I'm guessing that your Nord Stage is the Classic.
When did this problem first occur? Has it always done this? I'm going to guess no.

I think that your NS might be in need of medical attention, it could be a simple repair, as I
think that it could be a cracked solder joint or component shorting on the circuit board that hold the switches and knobs.

It would be advantageous to contact Nord support with this question. I have found them to be best in class and extremely responsive. You can contact them at this link: http://www.clavia.se/main.asp?tm=Suppor ... al_support

They'll be interested in which hardware and operating system versions that you currently use and the upgrade history "if one". Also when, and what happened just before your NS started exhibiting this behavior.

Please post back when you have additional information.

Cheers, Hanon

waiting for the answer here, as I also have the same behaviour... I was about to open the keyboard and see if there was something loose, but I better wait to see what Clavia says about it...

Button pressing problem

Postby olafhaugan » 24 Jun 2011, 00:31

I had the same probleme with the page button on the soundsheck in a big venue a few days ago. But it worked fine at the consert and no probleme in the next city we played... This is an very old nordstage classic compact, so I thought it was its last tour, but if other people is discover the same bug it might be some software bug? (I have the latest OS)

I have a NSC too and I think that this is normal.
What I think is, the buttons for the "drawbars" need to be "very touchy" because it needs to be without delays.
So my guess it that the keyboard does not have a different adjustment for individual buttons, and that makes all buttons that way.
I got used to it.

hi Cleito,

the problem aren't the drawbuttons, but all the other buttons.

For example, in my NS it's almost impossible to activate the organ percussion while playing (that's, to do it quick) because when I press the button quick it goes from OFF to ON and to OFF just pressing one time. If I want to activate it I have to do it very carefully...

Hi everybody , I'm new here,
and I also have button problems with my stage compact (4 Years old)since a few days. When pressing the page+/- buttons for some steps the nord power down and up himselve ?!, and a few pressings later even the bank buttons will produce the same chaos. I contacted clavia support and I'mstill waiting for their answer or any help.
Thanks and sorry about my english

You may have a problem in Piano memory (corrupted) that makes the NS reset when you switch program.
Have you tried a full restore (reinstall SO, erase all programs and pianos and restore from a valid backup)?

Hi,
thanks for the tip.
I tried all possibilities, factory restore, removing all programs/sounds etc., loading old OS/programs, no success, only when the program banks are empty?!
During the tests Ifound out that there are always the same seven presets which produce the restart, but the knobs can be different.
It's not a button problem, i think it must be a hardware bug.
Well I'm waiting for support's answer.
The next question will be surely the prize for service. (guarantee? 2008)

Hey ffloyd

What was the solution to your nord stage compact problem? I'm experiencing the switching on / off (rebooting) problem on my NSC.

Thanks
