Vangelis

Postby jpcaruana » 05 Mar 2009, 21:44

Hi,
Anyone with Vangelis-like sounds ? I would be very interesseted.
I have one here, but I don't think I can call it "Vangelis" : I'm not good at synth, I am never satisfied with my sounds, the Stage is my first synth-able keyboard (I had a Nord Electro 2 before)

I followed the tutorial on youtube
so here it goes :

use control pedal and be gentle on the wheel : just a slight of tremolo is required
panel A is a variation :

so, what do you think ? I think someone can do a better job : please share it !

Actually I haven't seen Blade Runner not know Vangelis very well but the song seems really full of Synth sounds.I like the PANEL A sound for the PAD-Melody. I just reduced a bit the AEG Attack time.
However, I was trying to get one of the percussive Lead they use for the arpeggios throughout the song, but did not quite succeed yet. But it should be possible to create with (probably) one of the digital wavetable sounds. If one were to cover that song.

I have other "vangelis"-like sounds : more brassy pads (not for solo though).
I will post them soon

You might try MIK300Z on YouTube. He does a lot of covers of Vangelis music including BladeRunner main title, end titles, and BR Blues. He uses an Ensonic ESQ 1 for his brass sounds. The key is to add the expression. Also it sounds much better washed thru some ambience. Hope that helps.
