Postby jdevon324 » 21 Jun 2014, 09:11

Hi,

does anyone have a sample of reverse piano for NS-EX? Or know the settings for it?

Hi,

1. Are you looking for synth section settings to imitate that sound ?
2. Otherwise there is no reverse piano sample for the NS-EX, in "npno" format.
3. If I remember well, that kind of sound has been released by someone on the forum, but in the "nsmp" format, thus compatible with some other Nord keyboards.
4. You may have a look at effect processors, some guitar players have "reverse effect" on their pedal board.

Cheers,
F.

Can't be done through the NS-EX as it lacks standard sample imports and there's not a Nord Piano library version. Use the synth section, create the envelope first (slow attack, rapid decay, no sustain, release to taste depending on whether you want it to continue after you let go of the keys, max if you do, min if not). If you have a separate filter envelope, get the filter to open up slightly as the sound is held down.

Then explore the wavetables as your sound source, and find something that sounds right. Unlike a regular piano sound, the attack is not perceptually that important, so you may find something unexpected works well.

Sorry I can't be more specific, I lack any kind of Nord Stage to try this on, but what I've said should work on any Nord synth with wavetables.
