Phlake synth lead

Postby rasmusholt » 01 Aug 2016, 12:43

Hi Forum,

I'm looking for the sound of the synth lead from Phlake - Pregnant (0:35 min in the video), can anybody help me creating that? :keyboard:

Watch on youtube.com

I want to have a split program with a rhode sound in the lower-middle part and then the lead synth in the upper part.
It sounds like they are using some kind of effect on a aftertouch to control a tremolo/vibrato or a overdrive.

I hope someone have the time and skills to help me.

Thank you in advance :thanks:

Cheers Rasmus

Hej Rasmus

I don't have my keyboard at hand right now, so unfortunately I can't have my go at replicating the sound.

My recommendation would be to find a good synth sound to use as a base (I would try to see if an analog type (maybe a square wave) would do the trick - maybe someone else has a suggestion as to which synthesis type to use?) and then adjust the release time to fit. Try dialing in a fair amount of overdrive. I think the amount of overdrive can be left fairly high - even from the beginning of the line.
However, I think the panning might have been done after recording the sound. If you want to achieve a similar effect live I would recommend using the "A-PAN"-effect and assigning the "AMOUNT" knob to either the mod wheel or aftertouch.

I hope this will get you a little closer to the actual sound. :) And looking forward to see if someone else has any suggestions.
