Nord Sound Manager Compatibility

Postby SimonJacc » 30 Apr 2017, 16:01

Hi everybody,

I have a Nord Stage 2 / 76 and I have to travel to another country to play a gig and they only have the nord stage 2 compact. Does anybody know, if I download my sounds on the Nord Sound Manager, can I then upload them on the nord stage 2 compact? Is it the same .ns2b format?

Thanks :)

Maybe make sure that you take with you the same sound manager program version you made the backup with and you also have the same OS version in both instruments. Perhaps the safest would be updating yours to the latest version, then make the back up AND takeg with you the instrument OS update file as well. If the rented one has an old OS version you can update it to the latest one.

Depending on the number of sounds you need to load for your gig, it may be more efficient to use Bundles vs. doing a complete backup. The backup takes some time and can be a little bit clunky. Bundles load a bit faster and it's less stressful in the moment. If you want to go that route, let us know and I can dig up another thread that has details on it.
Nords: NE2, NS2 88, NS3 Compact x 2
Live rig: NS3, Vent, Radial KL-8, Shure PSM-900 IEM Rig, UE18 & UE7 IEMs.
Studio: Hammond A-101 & Leslie 122, Yamaha CP-80, Yamaha S90, NS2, DSI Prophet-6, Vent II, Roland JX-8P.

Good points Mr_G (I was a bit too concise  )

@ericL: just an additional comment to your suggestion; with a Backup you get also all the System/Sound/MIDI settings restored, which you don't get with Bundles. So the choice of which method need also to take this aspect into account.

Good points, all. Bundle is way more efficient for speed, but if the underlying programming contains much exotic System/Midi/External settings, those will also need to be recreated manually from scratch, whereas with a full Backup it's no-fuss, no-muss, simple turnkey operation. Just takes a lot longer.
