Hohner Electric Piano

Postby john_nick » 12 Jul 2016, 21:01

I've searched all the programme and sample collections to see if I can locate Hohner Electric Piano, as played on Venus by Shocking Blue. None of the onboard EPianos come any where near it.

A search on the forums has only picked up a reference to that piano being played on that song.

I would be grateful if anyone has re-created this keyboard sound, or anything close

thanks

Thanks Mr_G. I had a look at that sample but it is not what I am after. The sound on the youtube clip is more like a Stage Rhodes. The keyboards come in at 11"

According to the keyboardplayer on the record (Cees Schrama) it was a Fender. But someone also mentions an RMI electra piano which you can find in the Nord sound archive.

Venro, You may well be correct but this is what I lifted off Wiki - " The Hohner electric piano on the release was played by Cees Schrama."

I'll play about with some Fender sounds and see where I get to.

Thanks

It would seem that if "...the sound on the youtube clip is more like a Stage Rhodes..." then trying rhodes samples would be a logical path to take.

I'm wondering whether perhaps Venro may know Cees? They are both Nederlanders. Clearly, though, if wiki says it was Hohner, then Cees must be mistaken...

It actually sounds like it's layered with a Hammond for the Intro hookline and choruses, with the Hammond dropping away for the verses.

The producer here says it's a "Fender piano", at around 5:20.

Keep watching to see Cees Schramma play it (albeit on a Hohner Clavinet E7, which is a completely different animal), in the exact voicings.

Is it a Clavinet or a Clavinet Pianet Duo? I can't see the controls on the left hand panel.

That's an E7.

At any rate, what we're hearing is only a clav.
