I have been playing with headphones all this time. I purchased an amplifier this weekend QSC K10 and I get very faint volume. Is this because the cables are TS or maybe that the other end is XLR ? When is switch the amp to Line in I get no sound.
Its very frustrating.. Any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Re: Very quiet sound coming from new monitor
Hi,
Apart from your mic level setting and mono (unbalanced) cables we have the same setup.
Line level input setting is fine (loud) & recommened when you connect the Nord (line level outputs).
I know my Nord outputs are unbalanced, but I use stereo (balanced) 7.5 jack cables to connect my K8.
I never tried unbalanced cables like you, maybe you can try some other cables ?

Re: Very quiet sound coming from new monitor
I'd go back and look at your gain structure. Your picture shows the K10 in the "mic" setting which gives you a ferocious amount of gain.
I use my Nords with a small mixer -- unbalanced 1/4" to the mixer, XLRs to the K10s set to "line".
If I mis-set the gain structure, I can get a lot of hiss. Simply dialing things back to a reasonable level makes the hiss go away.

I think I have gear issues ....

Yes, just switch the selector switch on the left channel to Line, not Mic. Microphones have much weaker output than your keyboard does. From the K-10 Manual:

Re: Very quiet sound coming from new monitor
However the OP complained of a very faint sound... I wonder what is going on.

Yes Mr. G! We don't want to lose sight of the OP's problem...at least not until it's solved!
I wonder how those cables are wired...? Is there a "standard" way of wiring a 1/4" TS to an XLR?
I'm with DJ and CP on the kbds submixer thing, but if the OP is only using one kbd, a simple DI may be useful...? Or?
Clearly in ageofpoo's photos the QSC is set to mic input and this is clearly wrong, but would expect this to be blasting loud, not barely there quiet...
Cables are #1 suspect for me...

Re: Very quiet sound coming from new monitor
When the K10 has too much gain, it makes a noticeable hissing sound -- probably from amplifying white noise. Better cables might help, as you suggest. Or adjust the gain structure. Or both
The other, unrelated thing is that OP is sending left and right signal from the keyboard to input 1 and input 2 on the QSC K series. I wouldn't do that. Besides not getting stereo, I would guess that the summing in the QSC is not as advanced as simply taking mono from the Nord. Don't know if that would affect the quiet sound, or not.

Re: Very quiet sound coming from new monitor
DOH! That's almost certainly it! Phase cancellation...so stupid of me not to have noticed what was right in front of my face...
I'll wager that problem disappears when one cable is disconnected. Also, if the reverb is cranked up all the way, signal will likely appear.

One cable and unbalanced it's enough to avoid phase cancelation.

Re: Very quiet sound coming from new monitor
Using only one cable did not fix the problem. Adjusting reverb also didn't do anything. Still no sound using 'line in' Tried all three outputs (left, right, headphone)
I think the problem may be that only a microphone can use the XLR connection on the amplifier.
As Pablo suspected... the cables were the problem!
expensive cables made in Japan no sound
cheap cable made in China and it fixed the problem
The cheap cable is a dual 1/4 to 1/8... I was lucky to have an adapter to make it 1/4
It also works in 'line in' mode now!
Thanks everyone for the advice!
