Re: The Nord Piano 2 wishlist
I'd like to see limited extra voices, such as pads, strings, etc. Or even a limited sample loading possibility. That would make me buy one in a heartbeat, because I can get my B3 sounds elsewhere. I know that doesn't go with the "purist" approach, but, all other high end DP's (excluding Roland's V-piano) have other voices.

Re: The Nord Piano 2 wishlist
If I sum my view here, I'd like to have these fixes / new features for NP:
these could even be done with firmware update:
1. more options for velocity adjustment. Especially to make it also "heavier".
2. adjustable program output levels. IMO it's a major mistake, that programs do not have their own level settings. Depending on sample set and effects, different pianos can have quite different basic levels. Now you have to "mix" them by hand with main volume, which is really annoying.
3. dynamic range parameter. Together with those first wishes this could really give you a versatile instrument for different players, different usages (studio, stage, different music styles...)
this need new hardware:
4. extern section. Because NP is so simple, it would be really useful to control external pads or synth sounds like you do in Stage's panel.
5. new panel spacing. Sometimes I'd like to put synth/keyboard over NP. When NP controll panel is in the middle, there's no space for that. Re-thinking this and perhaps putting panel more to left side, might give you this space.

Re: The Nord Piano 2 wishlist
I really would like a flat top model so we can put a nice electro on it.
Think Yamaha P100,P150,P300 and leave the speakers out.( not P200,P250,CP300, they are to bulky ).

Re: The Nord Piano 2 wishlist
Let me sum up what has been mentioned so far:
I. for the piano:
1. A better keyboard with full repetition possibilities (of course) - there was a discussion about harder or softer touch; I take it that most piano-oriented players wish for a harder touch in *this* Nord instrument (more specialized than Stage and Electro). In any case a better action is top on the list for many.
1a. More possibilities to adjust the velocity curve.
2. Alternative tunings (including at least one user temperament)
3. Even more RAM (of course)
II. for the samples:
1. XL samples, fully mapped, with dynamic range > 40 dB
1a. Adjustable dynamic range (might be done via 1a above)
1b. A warm, dark and rich grand piano (now after we've got the Bright...)
2. larger e-piano samples
3. larger cembalo samples
What about more customizable sounds (eg. a passibility for adjusting the level of key off samples - especially for the cembalo - and the level of string resonances, or an intonation parameter)?
I left out the wish for a flat top as it might restrict the ease of adjusting parameters live and I think that's one of the strenghts of all Nords.
What did I forget?

Re: The Nord Piano 2 wishlist
Well - for our hardware wishes we have to wait even longer... but still we can hope for the software side.
Inspired by Bluethner's recent step into digital: Why not fulfill II.1b above (rich, warm and dark grand piano) with a Bluethner sample?

Re: The Nord Piano 2 wishlist
WOW! I just had the chance to patiently listen to NP 88 2's demo.
What a complete pile of junk. First off, whoever's playing sounds like he's in high school; second, the piano sound is not really the defining patch for the NP and third, it seems as if now the NP 88 2 is not a Nord Piano anymore, but a Nord just like all the others 2...
Very disappointing in my humble opinion. Glad I have the first version of a Nord PIANO.

I'm not sure that I'm following properly.
Is this thread a wishlist for the NP2, or original NP?
The NP2 has stereo delay.
Please let me know.
Cheers, Hanon

Re: The Nord Piano 2 wishlist
The thread was begun as a NP1 wishlist. Now that the NP2 is out, a few wishes have come true, but...
(Perhaps this thread should be moved back to the ordinary threads where it can slowly move out of attention.)

I was a bit concerned about the perception of the Nord Piano 2 not even shipping yet "no one has it", yet we're already putting together a wishlist of stuff that it supposedly doesn't have.
Perhaps I could just change the title to "The Nord Piano Wishlist"
Cheers, Hanon

2 main wishes:
new velocity curves to allow a "heavier" touch
XL Grand lady
