Sad to see it go but...

Like I posted in another thread :

Dave Ferris wrote:I think I have a buyer for my NP2. I've used it exclusively the last two years until back in May when I acquired the CP4. It has served me very well and I still really dig the NP2 piano sounds, particularly the XL Fazioli.
If I were rich, I'd hang onto it...but I'm simply not using the NP2 enough these days to justify keeping it around when I need other stuff.

I did end up selling my NP2 last Friday to a woman I know off the KC forum. She really dug it as it was a world of improvement over an older Kurz PC2 semi-weighted board that she'd been using. I'm always glad to see a keyboard I'm reluctant about selling go to a good player. Especially someone I know a little bit, and I feel will get excellent, long term use out of it.

I simply couldn't justify having two higher end DPs around. So for the first time in probably almost 4 years , I'm Nord-less. :(

In the meantime, I'll be looking forward to NAMM in Jan. to see if any improvements are made in the keyboard action on the NP3. I really hope this is an area Nord addresses for more serious pianist types. In particular, ones that play more straight-ahead acoustic type jazz. 8-)

Hi Dave,

I agree, it's nice to sell a board one kind of likes to someone who apparently is going to continue enjoying it!
And times change, so all the best and enjoy making music. THe CP5 is certainly a great board not to speak of the real D thing ;-)
Also good to get rid of gear aquisition syndrome and downsize from time to time, also I read you will continue looking around, let's see what we see next year, maybe read you then again!
Cheers, Johannes

Yes many customers outthere are waiting for many things to come and hopefully will see a sign in the sky. My NP2 is gone too. Loved the interface, ease of use
and the Fazioli. The keybed and action were the reasons for selling it. What a pity NORD...

I sold my NE3 73 last sunday to a youg guy who had stopped playing piano when starting his studies. He finished the course last year and wnet back to music, but he has a p!T@ of a neighbour who's threatening him to call the police every time she hears the acoustic piano.

So he needed a digital one. At first, he action surprised him: mellow, short keys, plastic noise... but as he wanted it to be more portative than a Korg SV1, he based his decision on that. Plus he seemed to like the NE3 anyway. As he was young and broke and very nice, I made him a discount, he was the happiest :)

I got a text message 3 nights ago, saying more or less this: "Hey, a little feedback on the NE3. It's a great great piano, the more I play the more I'm dependant! I was afraid of the action at first but I kind of like it for tremolo'ed EPs... thanks again!"

I'm happy too :)

Hey thanks Franz. That was definitely another lifetime ago. I was maybe 23 at the time. It doesn't hold up too bad because of Chuck Sabatino, the vocalist and composer. Yes nice drum solo from Steve Strayhorn. Not a half bad piano solo either. 8-)

Sad to say , all the members of that group based out of St. Louis, Mo. have passed on. :( It held a special place in my heart for sure.

I have done a few gigs now , both jazz and rock stuff with the CP4. It's great in some ways but I will say I miss the Nord Piano. It's such a different animal, tonally speaking. And offers an organic characteristic I'm missing in the Yamaha ...on certain types of tunes. We all know how well the Nord pianos sit in the mix with bass & drums. Every gig is different and there always are extenuating circumstances, but on a few instances the CP4 hasn't been as clear as the Nord was.

I'm splitting hairs though. I feel they both are on equal ground, both excellent, the two best currently available, but just different.

I have a terrible habit of re-buying something that I sell months later.
