Reverb on piano samples
I have had my NP3 for a few months now and have not owned a keyboard before with pure piano samples. I'm struggling a bit to really enjoy the sounds as I don't feel a real "contact" with them. They sound like they are at the other end of a room, not at your fingertips. The samples appear to have inbuilt reverb in them? I understand that they were recorded in a room/studio with natural reverb but I like a "dry" sound that I can add my own reverb to if I want. I guess I am used to the Roland/Yamaha modelled sound which can be set to be completely dry. I have turned the reverb off on the NP3 and have set it to soft release with not a lot of success. Any thoughts that might help? Thanks. Huw

Maybe you are hearing the string resonance?

Re: Reverb on piano samples
Some users are thrown off by the lack of string dampening on the higher registers, not realizing that's how an acoustic piano is designed. Perhaps that's what you hearing?

Re: Reverb on piano samples
Yes. I think there is an element of that in what I'm hearing, BUT I feel a complete idiot!! I moved my monitors much closer too me which improved the "contact" with what I was playing and then when I checked all my connections I found I had put one output in the headphone socket and the other where it should be!! It sounds pretty good now!! Doh!!
