Hi All;
Just got my first NP2. Loving it. THis may be a dumb question, but is there a way to preview samples without having to load it onto the board?
Thanks!

Re: Previewing Samples
I don't think there is, but there SOOOOOO should be.
This should be a matter of priority for the engineers at Clavia, IMHO. It would be incredibly useful.

Re: Previewing Samples
Bummer. Agreed - TOP priority.
So, does anyone know if nord has all of their samples (the ones on the DVD's) in an mp3 sound byte somewhere? I know on their site, you can here a sample of a few from each group, but not all of them.

Re: Previewing Samples
I don't think so. I looked for something similar, and couldn't find anything. I think perhaps Clavia are worried about people pirating their sounds.

Re: Previewing Samples
The online mp3s are all there is for sneak preview auditions of samples from the Nord Sample Library. Beyond that, it is necessary to install them onto a sample-capable Nord to listen to them.
And yes, piracy concerns are at the heart of not providing some sort of software .nsmp player. Producing such a software player would effectively be making the entire library available to the general public at large without regard to whether they actually own a Nord or not.
Back in the day when I owned a Yamaha Motif ES rack, I dutifully registered it with Yamaha. The net result of this registration was that every three weeks or so I would receive an email from Yamaha explaining to me that although my Motif was already a really great instrument it would be oh so much greater if only I would send them another US$100 for some additional soundset.
From where I sit, getting new sounds for free from Nord is infinitely better than getting slick rick marketing crap every few weeks from those other folks. Having to actually load sounds into an instrument in order to hear them is a small inconvenience in return for having this ever-expanding free library. Four years ago when I began my association with Nord products it will still possible to count the number of samples in the library without tearing out one's hair. I know this because I did so and came up with ~250. In four years that library has grown more than sixfold. Is there anyone else out there doing it like this?
Bless,
Pablo

Re: Previewing Samples
I see the point, and totally agree with you Pablo. My real issue is that my NP2 mostly lives at the church where I lead worship. Bringing it home each week (in addition to some guitars) is generally a pain. So, for me to sit for a few hours up there is a little inconvenient. But, given the sound quality of the instrument, I'll live with it.
Thanks to all!
