Piano2 and memory's size limit

Postby TUBbrain » 13 Apr 2014, 09:56

Hi all,

Already happy owner of a C2, I've just buy a Piano 2 HA88. The instrument and samples are so tremendous ! but the limit of the memory are so little ! The Nord Piano Library contains the greatest piano's samples of the world, with so different huge tempers and quality that I need to get them all available ! The limit of the 512Mb is castrating and stop creativity. What a pity...

Is there any solution to extend this limit ? A chip replacement ? Or maybe a special daughter card to fix ? No memory card ? (a dimm or ddr unit ?)... And personal solutions with soldering iron like on some old synths hasn't been published yet ? I'm ready to pay.

Big thank you to all of users for bringing this great forum. Good job ! Keep on ! ;-)

Sorry, Nord memory is completely different from computer memory. There is no way to expand or add to the memory in your Piano 2. You will just have to be happy with what you have.

Ah, no, the memory limit is to increase creativity :) Think about it, you can have hundreds of piano patches like every other synth out there, and spend all your time changing from one to another. Or you can choose just a few, carefully auditioned, and really get to know them. I tried many, but settled on a Large Bosendorfer (lucid), Large Lady D (darker, but not duller) and the Medium Studio S6 (bright, but not harsh). That left enough room for a couple of Medium uprights - U3 (consistent, moderately bright) and Blue (quirky, old), plus the minimum of other essentials.

Precisely what I chose isn't important - now I have my own selection to really get to know. If I had more memory, I'd never get as in-depth with each piano as I will now.
