Good news!
After this 1.30 update you can use sustain pedal with external MIDI devices! For me this was the most annoying bug with earlier NP firmwares but now they fixed it.

Re: Pedal is working over MIDI!
Thanks for the info JacksonP.
Hopefully this means a similar fix is on the way for the NS2.

Re: Pedal is working over MIDI!
The sustain pedal anomaly wasn't technically a bug - Nord did adhere to the published MIDI standard for sustain pedal control code values. However, no one else did ! The 1.30 update changes the Nord sustain pedal behavior to match the "de facto" standard.
In any event, it works now !

Hello jazzonebyone,
Thanks for pointing out that Nord was correct in their adherence to the published MIDI spec.
MIDI Message Table 1 does clearly state that anything ≤63 is damper pedal (sustain) off.
Greatest of thanks to Clavia/ Nord for changing the Nord Piano to meet the customers' need, rather than the published spec.
I believe this attitude will continue to be a winning strategy for Nord, as clearly, few other
musical equipment manufacturers exhibit this level of concern.
Do you have any ideas as to if, or when similar changes will be made to the NS2?
Best regards, Hanon_CTS

Re: Pedal is working over MIDI!
I just purchased the NS2 and the sustain does not work as MIDI with EastWest PLAY. The sustain pedal is working for all other vsts except play. Can I assume via this post this is an issue with the NS2?

Hello fatelvis2002,
Welcome to the forums!
I think that you may have answered your own question.
The statement that the NS2 sustain via midi works with other VSTIs and not EastWest, appears to be more an issue with EWQL.
There seems to be quite a few posts with similar issues (not related to the Nord) on the Steinberg forum
It seems to be either related to the EW version (v6.0.4) or setup.
To my knowledge, all sustain pedal issues with the NS2 were resolved with update version v1.4
Cheers, Hanon

Re: Pedal is working over MIDI!
Thanks Hanon, yeah I'll investigate further. Probably is an EW PLAY issue. I do really like the sound and feel of the NS2, though I've only had it for about 24 hours!!!
