NP2 Sustain Pedal Input

Postby oyarsa » 16 Oct 2016, 20:00

It happened again! In the rush to setup at a festival with many bands the NP2 boots up but NO SOUND. All audio cables, mixer settings check out and I'm running out of time....cold sweat, I'm screwed.

Then I notice the sustain pedal is in the "Volume" input.....this error kills all output.

Stupid error on my part but I wish this would not kill all output. By the way, I truly love this piano.

I get these calls/emails 2-3 times per year. It happens. Whenever weirdness occurs with pedals connected, always a good idea to disconnect pedals and see if it persists.

As far as your "wish" goes, that is simply not going to happen. By connecting sustain pedal to volume connection, you are sending a very specific signal to the instrument. The instrument will accordingly respond appropriately to that signal. Asking it to so otherwise...well, that's not going to happen.

I have trained myself to always have my reading glasses on when connecting pedals... ;-)

If you don't use the volume input, you can just insert a dummy plug, and let it always there, so you can't plug anything else in this input.

You can cut the pins on the red line, because you won't need to connect anything!!
Cheers!
