Nord Piano vs Nord Stage 2

Post by brianr19 »

Greetings fellow Nord community,

I am about to purchase my first Nord keyboard and seem to have a hang up. My question is does the Nord Piano have any advantages over the Stage 2? If it doesn't then I may as well spend the extra 1k and get the stage. Any help is appreciated!

I like the NP action better for piano, it feels a tad heavier then the Stage to me. I feel like I have more control and expressiveness on the NP as opposed to the Stage, again for piano. ymmv........
Best to play both and see if you can tell the difference--if you don't need synth or organ, the capability to split and layer, go with the NP.

I agree that the NP has the best action (at least for Piano/EPs) of the Nords (and for my taste of all Stage Pianos except maybe the Kawai MP8-10 with its wooden real hammer keys). I in particular like the bottoming-out which is more Piano-esque, probably including due to the fact that it does not need to support aftertouch.
I agree on what Dave said, basically, if you need those additional sounds its worth going for the NS2.

So you guys are saying the action is better but what about features/spec wise? Does the NP have any advantage now or for future updates?

NS2 = 6 fold multitimbral (2 Organs, 2 Pianos, 2 Synths with sample playback) plus FX plus Delay plus Master FX/AmpSim plus Morphing (Modwheel, Aftertouch) plus Pitchbend
NP = Only one Piano Section plus FX minus Delay plus Master FX/AmpSim PLUS it comes with the Nord Triple Pedal included! No Morphing, AT, Modwheel, Pitchbend.

So its really a matter of allrounder vs. straight Stage Piano.
But as for the Piano Sound and FX they are identical (only the NP has no Delay), and will probably remain updatewise similar (since the most recent OS, the NP is now up to date to the NS2 with the long release feature).
