Hi everyone, I just got a NP3 and am wondering whether it uses USB 3.0 or 2.0. The specs on the Nord site don't show it, and neither does the manual. I want to get a USB hub for it and there's a significant price difference depending on the USB spec. My hope (and I'm not sure at this point if this will work) is to be able to plug the piano via USB into a USB hub and then connect a standard Apple USB to Lightning cable to my iPad for midi. (I know there are type A to B adapters but the hub seems like a simpler solution for my needs, since that way I could also plug my computer into the hub when needed).
Given how long the samples take to download into the piano, I'm suspecting it's not 3.0 but I wanted to double-check.
Thanks!

Re: Nord Piano 3 USB spec?
I suspect it is USB 2. I also suspect it is slower than standard USB2 as it seems many of the instruments actually use MIDI over USB which is slower than native USB speeds. Not sure but just my guess. I have NS2-EX and any sample downloads/uploads are extremely slow. I think they are sending Midi Sysex messages over USB. Maybe Pablo would know for sure.

Looking at photos of the rear of the Piano 3, I see a USB2.0 "B" style connector. The USB3.0 connectors exhibit a different shape and are coloured blue to distinguish them.

I think you are right. I found this picture online of the differences between 2.0/1.1 and 3.0 "type B" connectors and the one on the Nord definitely looks like the former.

Re: Nord Piano 3 USB spec?
Ended up trying a USB female to female adapter to connect the USB cable from the Nord to the standard Apple USB charging cable to the iPad. It did not work, so will have to get the Apple camera connection adapter...

The NP3 is a regular USB 2 Type B class compliant MIDI device. This is a good article on CoreMIDI and the iPad (ignore the code): https://stackoverflow.com/questions/139 ... s#14110218
I believe the camera connection kit will solve the physical connectivity you're trying for. What application are you using on the iPad?

Delayed response...sorry. I bought the camera connection kit and it works fine. I'm using it for PianoMarvel and Garageband.
