Quite annoying I am sure, yet things like that happen. I can think of the Roland red glue, the Kronos keybed, Yamaha non-returning keys, DX7 wrongly implemented MIDI velocity and Roland JX10 buggy sysex implementation (the last 2 never fixed as far as I know).
Yamaha did offer an exchange of the full keybed when broken "lazy" keys happened. Just so annoying when one of the keys in my p80 broke, they had "just" stopped the replacement programme  so I had to buy they key and change it myself. I am not looking forward to do that another 87 times. :(

Yes I have a new NP3 that I have been using a lot for the last 6 months and now the middle C is knocking really loudly on return stroke. Also the G above has actually stuck down and jammed a few times in the middle of a show- really horrifying.
I am dying to open it up and have a look but I am going to do some serious warrantee research first. Anyone has more info on this option?
otherwise a dream keyboard, just waiting for some Hammond organ patches...

Bueckert, don't worry.
You bought a keyboard, that has a problem, expensive one, you brings back it to your dealer.
Nord has ro take his responsability now.
If they work with a compagny who have issues with keybeds etc, and it is not the first time, it is not our problem.

Yamaha sent me an entire replacement keybed, free of charge, for my P120. It was probably close to 8 years old at the time and just then two notes started sticking. I never had experienced a second's problem before that -- I was always paranoid someone on stage would step on that cheesy plastic power supply more then anything. It cost me an hour of labor @ $75 to replace the P120 keybed assembly. I was still working a lot in that time period - 2000 - 2007/8 - and I easily made 110K (probably more) with that DP that cost me $900 from W. LA Music in Studio City.

Today I don't think it's just Nord. Users are writing in with action related noise on the new PH-50 action on the RD- 2000. Already two have returned their keyboards for a fix or new one. Rhodie 73 said he heard similar action noises on floor models of the FP-90 at Sam Ash..

The SV-1 has had action problems throughout its history ! If you get a good one, consider yourself lucky. The first generation Kronos was a debacle, relating to the action, for Korg. By the time the Kronos X was released you never heard about it again.

My point basically is, quality control on everything is definitely down compared to 10-12 years ago. "They", all can get it right out of the gate but it seems the attitude is more like -- let's just get it out there, see how many people complain and then deal with it then. :?

I overcame my analysis paralysis and bought a Piano 3 last weekend. I'm delighted. The keybed is quieter than I expected, and there is no knocking - the serial number is later than the often-cited threshold #PD11184. The action is light but quite piano-y - much more so than the Stage models - but not cushion-y like the heavier-touch Roland RD2000 (which I have to admit "feels more like a real piano" to me, even though the touted "escapement" feature is only a gimmick). I'm a little forgiving about the touch issue because, although I haven't tried the big Kawai, I haven't found anything out there (including Yamaha) that genuinely plays like an accoustic Steinway, Bosendorfer, Fazioli, Bluthner, Yamaha or Kawai. For that matter, my old 1979 Rhodes Stage 73 had a horrifyingly bad touch, but I wish I had it back. If my NP3 develops keyboard problems in the future, I'll simply get them fixed, like everything else I own. Even my beloved 2006 New York Steinway Model B needs some routine tweaking to stay in top form, just like a race car, and that doesn't bother me at all. (For what it's worth, I played a maintenance-free Yamaha C3D for 30 years prior to getting my B.) For the time being, however, life is good. Finally, though, I have to pass on the following joke:
Son: Dad, when I grow up, I want to be a musician.
Dad: Sorry, son, you can't do both.
Happy trails.

Great news lawman ! Perhaps the keybed noise issues are behind us ?

Hi Fed-Ex, not to contradict you, but this is entirely normal. What you show in this video, is not the key knocking this thread is referring to, but is rather the normal sounds heard when you play the keys on a hammer action key action. My RD-2000 does this, nearly every key on my Cp4 does this. If you look up the PianoMan Chuck video on YouTube of the Nord Piano 3 action, watch is all the way through and you will hear and see the knocking sound that is being referred to here.

Cheers!
