Re: Nord Piano 3 Key knocking noise
Now, I am curious as to the serial # of the NP3s for all the users here, haha...
Re: Nord Piano 3 Key knocking noise
I am reliably informed that instruments produced from around October won't have this problem. It has been fixed by a modification/addition to the damping. I asked Nord about it as I am interested in purchasing a Piano 3 at some point.
Re: Nord Piano 3 Key knocking noise
I got my Piano 3 about six weeks ago. Serial #PD11283. Played total of about 25 hours. No clicking or any other unwelcome noises (so far).

Mine is s/n PD10599 and it is clunking away on a half dozen keys. Very noticeable, and increasingly annoying when playing with the cans on.

Re: Nord Piano 3 Key knocking noise
Thanks. I figure the best way to keep track of this issue is to get a large data set of the various serial numbers and how they keybeds are holding up.
Re: Nord Piano 3 Key knocking noise
mine is 10038. No problem when i play, but if i played very very staccato, very quickly, that noise can be heard. But never in normal playing.

Re: Nord Piano 3 Key knocking noise
Mine is PD11296. I think the Fatar keybed itself is a little "noisy" (certainly noisier than on my acoustic Yamaha C7) but from the very first Fatar controller I bought in the 90s, I've known they're just not the greatest keybed so I'm not overly bummed about it. I'm not getting the types of sounds others are describing so I will definitely keep my ears out for that. Has anyone recorded the ambient sound of their P3 while playing with headphones - meaning - we don't need to hear what you're playing musically just the sound of the keys in the room...

Re: Nord Piano 3 Key knocking noise
Came across this thread and just had to comment. Sorry, not sorry.
I own a stupidly expensive Boesendorfer. Guess what? There are noises generated by the keybed when I play it. Shocking, I know. No, I don't want a refund, it's all part of the acoustic piano experience.
Love my NP2 for live gigging, BTW. I've bonded with the instrument. As in, me and this board, we can bring some serious game together. The NP3 seems like the next level up, but -- right now -- I'm enjoying my moments with the NP2.

Re: Nord Piano 3 Key knocking noise
I've had mine since late August (PD10205) and am now experiencing some clicks and knocks as others have described. Currently it's only a minor annoyance but I do plan on having it serviced as I anticipate it only getting noisier over time.
