Hi, I purchased a Nord Piano 2 for learning to play the piano. I live on my own in a small condo and purchased a single QSC K8 speaker along with a stand so that its not on the floor.
Did I make a mistake in doing this?
I did a search and found many posts from people who like the QSC speakers, but I later realized these people were using them while gigging and not having this massive speaker in front of them.
I am still able to return the K8. I saw some other setups that people have at their home and was thinking that maybe it would be better have stereo studio monitors instead of a mono speaker.
Maybe it doesn't matter much because I'm a beginner and this should be the least of my worries lol.
I will post pictures of my setup tomorrow and I would appreciate any feedback... Am I supposed to have the speaker right in front of me?

My opinion,
Take 2 Yam HS7 instead. You will have stereo, this will enlarge your sound and sensations.
Almost the same price.
But this is only my opinion ...
Cheers

I second the pair of yammy idea. I have the older hs80. Plenty of sound for anything.

Re: Mono PA speaker vs Stereo studio monitors
Note that the best speakers won't help if the room acoustics are bad.
The manual on page 10 gives some idea how to set them up. A high book shelf on the opposite wall may be a good idea (with lots of books, of course). A plain white wall is bad.
I don't know those speakers personally but I guess they are near field monitors. They aren't designed to project sound but to be listened to in a fairly narrow spot, so placement is important.
BTW, it's not for everyone, but at home I use headphones exclusively. There's a pair of fairly decent studio monitors on my desk, but headphones that cost half as much leave them far behind and don't upset the neighbors. As said, room acoustics is the challenge, and headphones solve that problem.

And I was worried - all the way down to the ground
When it comes to holding safety nets
Nobody seems to be around

Re: Mono PA speaker vs Stereo studio monitors
Hi, the HS7 even in bad environnement (acoustic I mean), can be used. On each side of the instrument, a little bit turned to the inside were the player is, it will be nice. I've tried in a small, medium and large room. The best was in a small and insonorised room but the rest is playable also.
Choosing monitors is hard and it depends on your taste also... If u like flat sounds or not, but those ones, I found them nice for the price and well working with Nord instrument wich is sometimes hard to satisfy because it delivers a lot of complex and rich sound.
But, that's only my opinion and taste, and with sounds, who knows if you would like it or not... Just you I guess.
So trying is the only solution.
Offrhodes is right, to avoid that, use headphones. But i can't play for a long time with it. Just my opinion again
Cheers

Re: Mono PA speaker vs Stereo studio monitors
I use for home and also for our small and rare gigs the Motion Sound K-100S, which is a small Stereo Amp in one box. With that in front of me, about 1-2 m from the Keyboard and about 1 m from the ground I like the pianos but also the sample and mixed sounds. It sounds good if I play silent and also if I play loud. Especially at home I like the stereo effect, because many effects are only pleasent in stereo. I am very satisfied.
Cheers

Very comparable to some and superior to many is the JBL LSR305. I settled on these after a lengthy search. Many reviews support their broad range of amazing sound.

Another vote for the LSR305! (please excuse the cable mess, I just got the mixer and still haven't organized)
