Thanks Al. Yeah my tune with Bob is from my CD recorded in 1991 (God I'm getting old ..lol) at Chick Corea's old studio here in LA - Mad Hatter - and on his old Hamburg Steinway D. Unfortunately the piano has fallen into disrepair (since Chick sold the studio to a church) over the years due to neglect and from I hear...is pretty brutal in its current state. Sad because it was an excellent piano in its day.

Yes the Nord "Gentle Rain" was done with the XL Bosie sample. It was very much even further enhanced by using a borrowed John Hardy Twin Servo pre-amp, and going into it via my Radial Stereo Duplex di. I can't say enough about how cool the Hardy is - a wonderful preamp !

If you click on each track, it gives more detailed info on which sample, on which keyboard (some are with my CP5), and which pre I was using. The only recording I made with the Fazioli on "Pensativa" and the JMK Audio piece that I mentioned already, really turned out well imo.

Yes the CP4 is way above the CP33 imo. And yes, the CP33 wasn't even in the same sonic ballpark in relation to the Nord pianos. But in expanding on the CP5, Yamaha has given the CP4 3 different samples that aren't even on the 33. The newest CFX Grand, along with the older CF Grand (my favorite) and S6 that were both in the CP5. As many know here, I loved my CP5 but due to the weight at 55 lbs., however it became too much to deal with on gigs. So then my Nord piano experiences began at that point.

If possible I'd like to hold onto the NP2 and get the CP4. Even with the newest Yamaha CFX sample, I'm not convinced, it sounds as good all round as the Nord stuff. I'd have to own the CP4 for awhile and see how it fares out on gigs to make an honest comparison. So I'd hate to let the NP2 go. I just REALLY prefer the Yamaha action on both the CP4 &5.

Yes the RCF speakers I've found are a good compromise, both sonically & price point, to the really higher end Pro Audio stuff like - L' Acoustics, Fulcrum Acoustic & Meyer. It's just a matter of how much $$$$ you wanna throw at this stuff I guess.
If you do decide on the RCF TT or NX line, hit me with a PM. I have a connect in your neck of the woods who could save you some dough on them.
