I'm new to the forum but I've been a long time Nord owner - Nord Electro 2, 4 and now Piano 3.
We all know how incredible the Nord piano samples sound with a nice set of headphones... but through a pro PA or monitor rig - what are your favorite piano samples?
Are you running your Nord in Mono mode?
Personally I love the Velvet XL, Grand Lady D (still) and new Amber Upright. However, I still am not completely satisfied with live application. What's tops for your gigs? Does it differ from studio samples?
Thanks in advance!

If in a band, Bright Grand. It's still the one, out of all of them, that cuts through the best.
Solo act or accompanied by just a recessive bassist and snoozy drummer - Grand Lady D.

The absolute best thing about owning a Nord is that you don't have to commit to a single piano sound from now ever after.
I have to admit I've become a bit fickle since upgrading to the Stage 2EX. I have various pianos of various sizes, and experiment constantly. This past weekend, I mostly used the Italian Grand for two big band gigs. I've never been a fan of the Italian, but these were outdoor gigs and I played in stereo through two QSC K8's. It just sounded right. Next week may be a different story.
Even when I had the Electro 3HP, I would swap pianos in and out all the time.
Just keep experimenting until you find the one that works for you. Depending on the style of music you play, don't discount the uprights. They are worthy contenders.

Re: Favorite Pianos for LIVE performance
In a loud electric band, the Bright Grand cuts through any mix.
But I found that the Silver cuts just as well, and is also more expressive and less harsh for solo/soft playing.
+1 for the Velvet, love its mellow and smooth tone!

Re: Favorite Pianos for LIVE performance
The Silver has been cited the most as the principal option for the Bright.
Unfortunately, for reasons known only to Nord, the L file of the Silver is 14mb larger that the L file of the Bright. For those of us with older boards, that's a lot of MB.
That's a deal-breaker for me, until I eventually get a Nord with more memory. One might argue that the mysterious file growth is a purchase incentive. I've seen other theories, most having to do with sampling technology, but given that the XL files have NOT inflated, it's hard to know exactly what is going on.

+1 for Bright Grand together with a band - the other two I have on my Electro 5 ( Italian Grand and the lovely Grand Imperial Bøsendorfer that is my favorite back home) does not cut through the same way.
