Hi everyone.
I'm quiet new for digital piano.
i'm going to buy NP and use it with yamaha MSP5 studio monitor speakers
My question is what type of cable should i use to connect these.
- 1/4 to 1/4 or 1/4 to XLR and balanced or unbalanced cable do i need?

Re: Balanced or unbalanced cable?
Hi,
since the Nord Piano only has unbalanced outputs, just grab a good quality standard instrument cable (Mono Jack 1/4in) and plug it into the Jack input of the Yamaha and you're done. If you have two, just get two of them and connect one for each speaker with the L/R outputs of the NP.
Cheers, Johannes

Hello th2911,
Welcome to the forum!
It's always best to use balanced cables for runs over 15 feet.
However, the output of the Nord piano is unbalanced.
The MSP5 has both XLR and 1/4" connections.
If you have more than 15 feet of cable from the piano, I'd use 1/4" TS to XLR, although this isn't a perfect balanced connection, it still has many of the benefits.
For less than 15 feet, I'd just use standard 1/4" unbalanced (TS).
In a perfect world, I'd use a 2ch direct box as close to the piano as possible, and then XLR (balanced) from the DI box to your sound system.
Cheers, Hanon
