I'd like it if Clavia released an effects box. I really enjoy the effects in the A1, I love the sound of the filter drive, and I think the modulation effects and reverb (stage 1 and hall 2 especially) are great.
I've had the Nord A1 running into a Real Nice Compressor just to catch the peaks. I have three Strymon effects pedals I keep on aux sends (Timeline, Mobius, Blue Sky), but I haven't used them with the A1, my mixer is DOA, a new one arrives Monday. Lots of cleaning, rearranging, patching, learning, and cursing will ensue. THEN, finally, I'll get to hear how good the A1 sounds through the Timeline.
One last thought- I bought an Electro Harmonix 8 Step Program pedal to use on the control pedal input and it's been a lot of fun. It's not a quality box, it only seems to generate a CC range from 53 -100, but it opens up some interesting possibilities.

How do you find the Strymon pedals to program? I got Eventide PitchFactor and Space that I program with the Ipad through the H9 control app and it's so easy. I ask because I want to buy a mod pedal and I can't choose between Eventide ModFactor and Strymon Mobius.

The Strymon pedals are easy to program. Most of the tweaking you'll want to do can be done from the knobs, but you can go quite a bit deeper with easy to navigate menus.
I don't like the preset selection system, though. Because it's intended as a guitar pedal it's footswitch oriented. You can scroll through presets, but banks only have two presets so you can't jump from preset 10a to 20a for instance.
There is a decent computer preset organizer and that helps a lot. I put all my flange presets in one section, all my phasers in another, etc. That makes navigation easier.
I haven't used the Eventide pedals so I can't make a comparison. I enjoy editing both the Timeline and the Mobius- they work in exactly the same way. But they aren't the best interfaces I've tried- clean and organized, but sort of uninspiring UIs.
I haven't used any of my Strymon pedals with the Nord, only with guitar, vocals, bass. I like the Timeline more than the Mobius. Although I'm more apt to use modulation than delay, the Mobius is not as fun for me as either the Timeline or the Blue Sky. The Mobius is classy, clean, very pretty, sometimes wild, but doesn't knock me out the way the other pedals have. Now that I have the A1, though, I'm guessing I'll find many cool uses for the Mobius, and maybe I'll finally fall in love with it.
One thing I like, as a guitar player, is the true pass-through of the dry signal in the Strymon pedals. For guitar, I felt it made a significant difference in tone to leave the original signal analog and tap off of that to create the digital effects. With most digital pedals both the dry and wet signals are run through A/D and D/A conversion.
If I were you, I'd go with the ModFactor. You obviously like the Eventide sound, they're great pedals, you know the paradigm already. Can you use the H9 control app with the Modfactor as well?

Yes it can control all the Eventide Stompboxes and Eventide says that you can control all at the same time if you have an usb hub (gotta try it).
Thank you for your quick reply... I'll go for the ModFactor then (I found that musicstore.de it's selling it for a very good price!).

Perfect. And you're welcome. You have an amazing effects set-up.
Re: Top Effect Pedals for Nord Lead!
A good effect for the older Nord Leads that I just picked up is the Boss RV-6. It has reverb, delay, and a little bit of that Tera Echo/Shimmer sprinkled on top. A very nice box for adding some reverb and/or delay.

Eventide H9
........... and the Strymon stuff is all very good too. But if I had to chose only one -- the H9.

I bought an old Line6 Pod for 10:- EUR.
Lots of functionality for that price!
Sits nicely accessible on top of my NL2X, to the right. And ... the color is perfect!
Following the lead (pun intended ) of Master Collector Marlowes, I also got a Line6 Pod, the "Pocket" version which is even smaller, while retaining all the functionalities.
Incredibly small, it sits nicely on top of the Lead/Wave and it's great for generic effects to warm up the sounds (chorus, delay, reverb etc). It's not very tweakable but there are LOTS of presets to cover almost any need. All in all, great value for the price (and I bought it 2nd-hand, too).
And best of all, it's (almost) the perfect colour!
