I use a small stone phaser into a dreamscape chorus into a space echo pedal for my 2x.

2. Boss DC-2 Dimension C - I usually have this on the lowest setting and it warms up everything nicely. I'm looking for a CE-2 and may swap this if I like better.

Just wondering, you say the Boss PS-6 Harmonist gets close to your analogues; Is this in warmth and fatness or just fatness only?

I've also been thinking about getting a Dimension C. I know these are supposed to produce a nice warm chorus, but would you say that it fattens up the sound a fair bit also? Or maybe not as much as the Harmonist?

I read that the Behringer (yes, I know...) US600 Harmonist is virtually the same as the Boss but at a fraction of a price. I want to try one (mostly to get over the limited pitch bending of the NS2) but where I live nobody carries them.

@gridpower: I just saw the demo of the eventide... great, shame the high price!

I use a boss dd20 delay with my nl2. I like that it has four memory slots, since I want timed delays on certain songs. The stereo delay sounds really good. Plus the phrase sampler is fun to play around with, but not really useful on live gigs.

I'm curious about that boss ps-6 pedal, could you provide a sound sample with and without the effect?

I have an Eventide H9 on the NL3...and it is very sweet, as stated above.

@Marko
So, Nord runs directly into the H9, you don't need any adjustment of gain and impedance? Because it's a guitar pedal actually?

I purchased a US600 the other day after hearing the same thing i.e. US600 similar/same as Boss PS-6. Not wanting to fork out 3/4x the price for the Boss, I decided to try the Behringer version.

To be frank, I wasn't too impressed.

Pitch Shifter mode sounded glitchy on the highs. Low end was not too bad.

Harmonist mode sounded VERY glitchy/warbly at anything other than very low settings. Only really working as a sweetener rather than full on effect. I imagine it probably works with guitars much better...unless I just got a faulty unit. This was the main reason i decided to buy the pedal, but ends up-in my opinion-to be the most unusable of the US600 effects.

Trem Bar & Flutter modes sounded OK. But these effects can be easily programmed for use on any Nord mod wheel, so was of little interest to me. They also don't lock/stay on. So you have to keep your foot down on the pedal to keep these two effects going.

Likewise, Detune mode also sounded OK, but again, this is an easy one to program on ye Nords, and was therefore also of no interest to me.

Wondering if anyone else had any experiences with the US600? Would like to hear if anyone else has got on with it better than I have.

I know the Behringers are quite cheap, but even so, I find the harmonist feature not worth the money-for me at least. It actually reminds me very much of the NL4 tube overdrive effect, as that was something I could only really use at the very lowest settings due to the distortion being overpowering at anything other than.

Actually turns out that my unit has a faulty jack socket as well, so maybe there is a fault with some of the other workings perhaps. Wont be ordering a replacement anyhow.

Still would like to try out some sort of unison pedal for the Wave though. Are there any other notable ones out there? Something nice and simple like what the NL4 had but in pedal/box form...

Bit of a minefield really...

Likewise, the PS-6 reviews have made me have second thoughts also, as some have pointed out a few issues that sound very similar to the US600 Harmonist mode. Just wondering how Ricoche or anyone else actually sets these up for use with the Nords...

On the flip side, I also got the Behringer CC300 and it is a very nice chorus indeed. The 4 presets seem to be REALLY subtle though, as in you cant tell the difference between the presets on certain sounds. Is the Roland Dimension-C presets like this at all? Either way the CC300 is a keeper for me.

What about using the expression pedal to control pitch bending in the us600? Does that work well?

I don't have an expression pedal I'm afraid, so can't comment on that.

I am just after some quick and easy on/off FX units. Mainly a chorus, unison & ensemble.

May still be worth ordering one from a place that does returns/refunds and see how it goes? It does seem to have some good reviews, though I am wondering if most (or all) of these are guitar based...

I'd like it if Clavia released an effects box. I really enjoy the effects in the A1, I love the sound of the filter drive, and I think the modulation effects and reverb (stage 1 and hall 2 especially) are great.

I've had the Nord A1 running into a Real Nice Compressor just to catch the peaks. I have three Strymon effects pedals I keep on aux sends (Timeline, Mobius, Blue Sky), but I haven't used them with the A1, my mixer is DOA, a new one arrives Monday. Lots of cleaning, rearranging, patching, learning, and cursing will ensue. THEN, finally, I'll get to hear how good the A1 sounds through the Timeline.

One last thought- I bought an Electro Harmonix 8 Step Program pedal to use on the control pedal input and it's been a lot of fun. It's not a quality box, it only seems to generate a CC range from 53 -100, but it opens up some interesting possibilities.
