Re: The Nord Lead 4 is here
Looks like Clavia would like to keep Nord Wave. Nord Wave has everything you'd like to see in Nord Lead 4: aftertouch, samples, LCD screen under the same orice 1899 Euro. So if you want all of that - pick Nord Wave. Not sure if Clavia would be able to sell a lot of Nord Lead 4 for the same price.

Re: The Nord Lead 4 is here
The Wave was almost perfect - it just needed 4 part timbrality and split capability. Now, there's a lot of goods floating around that are 'almost there', but each has a major quirk that for many will be a deal breaker. Oh well.

What is the polyphony ?
( the number of voices counting 2 osc per voice)
How can they be consumed by parts or unisons ?

Re: The Nord Lead 4 is here
While I think it looks to be a promising synth. The main issue is price, if it was 300 usd cheaper, it'd be great. It also lacks features, I think that more effects are needed.
For that price, I'd rahter get a MS-20 Mini, and a Tetra with some midi keyboard.

Look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkuT7TTFpbs&
He is talking about 20 voices and 4 slots = the same like at the 2X.
I also think that the basic sound is very similar to the 2X, but of course there are the effects.
Nord Piano 5 + Nord Piano Monitors, Nord Stage 4 Compact + other stuff

Re: The Nord Lead 4 is here
Just saw the movie on YouTube - I got to have one of these too!
But it will probably be expensive compared to the NL2X, still lack some effects, and those of you who wanted a Wave inside it too are totally right! That would have been a dream come true.
And will the "computer controlability" be as good as I am used to with the Electro and Piano (through Sound Manager)? This is one of the things I really miss with the NL2X.

NE3HP, NP88, NS2, DPP1, NL2X, NL2X, NLA1, NL4, NE5D, NW2 (Collect Them All?), some classic Rolands, Arturias, a Waldorf, a Kurz, a WONOK3, a pile of guitars, a P-bass, loopers, amps and computers ...

Re: The Nord Lead 4 is here
It seems to me the Lead 4 is a replacement for the Lead 2X, not the Wave. As such, I wouldn't be surprised if a Wave 2 surfaces at some point. Compared to the 2X, I think the Lead 4 looks interesting but when compared to the Wave, it is lacking quite a few features though it looks very much a player's board.
Anyway, I just hope the Wave wasn't a testbed for technology that ended up in the Stage 2 and that there'll be an update in the future. But first, brings us a new Modular plz!! :-p

fully agree!
VA sounds like a tin can compared to it, the only reason I have a Wave and Nord Stage 2 (instead of an Electro 4D) is because you can load those things up with samples and that is your sound source, to be fair, Nord's VA (all of them) doesn't sound that nice, unless you like cold....And I'm a Nord fanboy!!!!
I'll get a DS mopho 4.
