Nord Lead A1 Down Sides
Hi!
I basically love my A1, but some things are really annoying.
1. Why on earth are Vibrato Rate and Amount settings global? I have to decide this for all my patches at once globally. That makes no musical sense.
2. The keybed is a real downside. The overall feel is just okay. There are better Fatars out there (with AT as well). What really is driving me crazy is the velocity inconsistence. When I play it with velocity morphing, then the sound is uncontrollable. I play since 27 years now, with a lot of classical training. I can play a perfectly even line on any given piano or keyboard. With velocity morphing, you have massively popping out keys. Try it with velocity to cutoff. It's uncontrollable on the A1, but perfectly controllable from another keybed via MIDI. This is really a big let down, because it could sound so musical.
3. Why is delay mode global? Why is any soundwhise option global? This makes no sense. Brings me to the next.
4. Global routing. Why?
5. The fixed upper/lower system is also a let down. Why can't I layer three pads left and one lead right?
What do you think about this?
regards,
Duplo

The global delay, etc., I guess it is because Clavia chose to implement 1 instance of the delay. If you have 4 synth parts, and you want a different delay in each part, you have to implement 4 of those.
Maybe the DSP is running at its maximum, so it cannot do that x4.
The vibrato choice is really puzzling, same thing in the NS2.

You can setup the dealy for any of the 4 slots independently. But maybe that's the reason.

Re: Nord Lead A1 Down Sides
Another thing. Maybe you can check that too on your A1!
Take an INIT patch and just set the velocity morph to cutoff from minimum to maximum. Take a 24db LP filter. Now it is impossible to play a consistent line, without notes totally popping out. Every note seems to have it's own velocity map. That's a real let down for a 1400€ keyboard. Kurzweil had similar problems with Fatar keybeds and now provided a velocity map editor (just a +- adjust per key). This solved it, I have a perfectly even map now on my Forte.
Can you confim this problem? I don't think it is a usual dust in the sensor thing, as it affects all of the keybed and my A1 is pretty new.

Hej Duplo!
No, I just tested my NLA1 ... it seems to work just fine ... it is a tough test - you have to be very consistent in your key hitting!
But my "calibrated" paws could not detect anything strange.

Man, I played piano concertos, I know how to play a consistent line.

Re: Nord Lead A1 Down Sides
What do you mean by the delay mode being global? I'm not an owner, but page 6 of the manual states "separate Delay and Reverb for each slot."

Re: Nord Lead A1 Down Sides
If delay is assigned to the master clock then those divisions will correspond to master clock's (or external sync) tempo, for all slots. If the master clock has not been assigned you could theoretically set the delay divisions to whatever you want within the delay algorithm, regardless of tempo.
At least I think that's how it works..
