Nord Lead 2 - Service Manual ? / Schematics

Postby syrck » 24 Mar 2013, 20:51

Hey to all ;)

I bought a second/ third hand Nord Lead 2 Keyboard in USA, and the keyboard work fine for 14 months, but today when i was playing, i touch the KBD SPLIT ant the keybord stopped. I try to turn on the keyboard but don't work.....

I found in google for the schematic / service manual for this keyboards, but nothing found. Someone has the service manual ?

Thanks in advanced ;)

The Service Manual wouldn't serve you :)
It is mainly about test procedures to find out the trouble and aks for replacements.
Better contact the distributor in your country and get it to a tech.
You could open the hood and check all connectors yourself, special the ones of the keyboard.
I can't direct you to my NordLead page on the net anymore due to a fallure of the electro-music.com server.
So no pictures about opening the hood anymore, only at http://www.electro-music.com/forum/topic-29716-0.html

Seems to me your description in your first post in that thread is pretty clear.

The two cables coming from the keyboard should be easy to find (and probably have those strangely colored connectors). Be aware that the connector itself may be wider than the receptacle it plugs in to, so there's the possibility of plugging it back the wrong way. I really suggest documenting what you're doing, perhaps with some pictures so you can see what goes where.

Since you're asking about a service manual, I assume you don't need a lecture on ESD and keeping your fingers out of the power supply? ;-)

+1 On the request of a service manual and in particular schematics.

Just bought a used Nord Lead 2 keyboard and it mostly works but the LED's on the front panel are out to lunch. Most LED's are on but they don't change when you press any of the buttons even though the buttons and knobs seem to work. Upon further inspection it looks like something got spilled on the upper PCB so I figure there must be a damaged latch IC or something along those lines. (Ribbon cable looks fine and both ends are properly seated.) I will figure it out the hard way if I need to but a schematic would save a lot of time. Thanks!

Huge thanks go out to Pablo at American Music and Sound for his excellent support!

With the information he provided I was able to get my NL2 up and running. In my case the uppper PCB had some bad traces due to water damage. It looks a previous owner spilled something in there and didn't dry it out. The liquid wicked under some of the switches and did a number on the traces underneath them. A lot of cleaning and four jumpers later I am a happy camper.
