Nord Lead 2 problems with Midi notes skipping
I'm having difficulty with the Nord unpredictably dropping out notes when receiving Midi note messages from Ableton's sequencer. It especially gets bad when I've got multiple slots going with their own individual midi channels each playing from Ableton. For instance, slots A-B receive midi channel 1, while slots C-D receive midi channel 2. I've got 'local' turned off as well. What's going on? Anyone else experience this?

Re: Nord Lead 2 problems with Midi notes skipping
Clavia gear is rather Midi sensitive, but that mostly would result in a crash. Keep in mind the Midi implementation is as old as the synth...
Skipping notes mostly occurs when a bulk of Midi data is send to the Input. Sounds dropping out occurs when too less Voices are available. Using 4 Slots means 4 Voices each Slot and using both swith the Unison active means only 2 Voices each Slot.
I hope this helps?

Re: Nord Lead 2 problems with Midi notes skipping
I'm not familiar with midi sensitivity issues, but Wout is right about using up voices.
The NL2 has 16-notes of polyphony. You said you're running all four slots at once. One or more of the programs you have loaded to those four slots may be boosting voice fatness by having Unison set to Poly, which stacks two voices onto each key. Setting Unison to Mono or Legato stacks four voices onto each key. That means that playing a triad on one such program will consume 12 of the available 16 voices. You're probably running out of notes.
If this is for live performance, you might try strategizing your sequences a bit, e.g. playing chords more openly or perhaps stuttering percussive sounds a few clicks apart from one another so that they don't all drop at the same moment in time, shorter release tails on synths, that sort of thing. For studio use, dump your midi tracks to audio one at a time instead of running both at once, giving you additional "elbow room" on each midi channel / slot pair.
Bless,
Pablo
