Nord 2x Boots as NR2 - No Mod Wheel - Pitch Stick Troubles

Postby samriccijr » 14 Nov 2017, 03:19

Hi all this is my first post. Please help me with my 2x keyboard.

I recently replaced my pitch stick for the second time. It would
Intermittently work then stop working. I used de-solder Braid to
clean the solder pads. The inside blue pad trace pulled from
Circuit board argh..

I connected the inside blue wire to the resistor end. The pitch stick still did
Not work..

And now the nord boots as NR2 (rack) and the mod wheel does not work..

1: how do I reboot as NL2x instead of NR2 and at least get the mod wheel back?

2: Anyone have a sketch of the circuit traces for the solder pads?

I assume that the solder pads connect to more than 1 trace.
And I will have to add a few jumper wires to get the pitch resistors to
re-calibrate.

Thank you for your help!

Re: Nord 2x Boots as NR2 - No Mod Wheel - Pitch Stick Troubl

Hi all I got it to work with a footnote....

It appears that if the pitch stick is not connected to the control board,
the Nord 2x boots as NR2. The pitch stick and mod wheel do not work,
however the keyboard still receives pitch and mod from midi.

The solder pads for the pitch stick wires are connected to the through-
mounted balancing resistors on the Nord's control board.

Using a multimeter and looking at the board with the pitch stick on the left:

Pad 1 connects to the bottom of the first resistor
Pad 2 connects to the top of the second resistor
The top of resistor 2 connects to the top of resistor 4

So I connected the second wire (with the broken solder pad) to the top of the
second resistor. I also re-soldered the other wires to the pads.

The Nord re-stared as Nord 2x and the pitch stick and mod wheel work again.

However,

I have to press the pitch stick down (into the case) with reasonable pressure to get it to work.
I tightened all of the screws on the frame and the stick so there is no mechanical play.
The pitch stick still needs down pressure before it will bend notes.

Anyone have any ideas, please post.

Thank you!
