Nord's classical Virtual Analog Synth Nord LEAD 1/2/2x/3/4/A1 and Nord Rack versions

Re: NLA1: new patches :-)

I would think that Marlowes would be knee-deep in this thread. He is the most vocal supporter of NLA1 and has already posted many, many programs here in the forum which would seem to fall into this category. I haven't counted them, but I would think that they number in the dozens.

Also (and I understand that I may be inviting unkind thoughts/responses by saying this), with countless online tutorial resources available on the subject of synth programming (most prominently the SOS series) it might not be unreasonable to expect that after having owned the instrument for two years NLA1 people could try their hands at authoring some programs. No one else knows exactly what you want better than you yourself, and although I sense good nature in your response to Kroffe when you say "give us vintage patches," Kroffe is just another private individual participant in this forum (admittedly a brilliant one). It may be that he was briefly employed by Nord during the time of the NLA1 development, but he owes the planet no obligation to provide cost-free synth programming services. To an aspiring musician, developing the facility to create sounds which are pleasing to one's ear should be just as important as practicing on the keys -- and I think that we all continue to "aspire" to improve our skills no matter how old we are.

In Jamaican patois they say: "If yu waan good, yu nose haffi run."

Yeah, I heard your broken record Pablo. Here's mine again:

1. Not all musicians are programmers (and vice versa). I certainly am not.
2. The A1 is potentially a great instrument if only it came pre-loaded with patches that fit its main characteristic of being a "vintage" synth. Burps, farts do not qualify.
3. I've tried many times to come up with the sounds I want but failed, I cannot seem to be able to get the right "tone" and "grain". Seems to apply to other members on this thread too. A good example is the moog lead of Pink Floyd's SOYCD as pointed out by Yves.
4. This forum is about sharing and generosity, (remember Hanon?) so maybe some members with talent/time and the right inclination will pick up the challenge and share their creations. Of course there's no obligation. How you come to that conclusion from what people wrote here baffles me.

No need to take this badly or personally, your technical knowledge and responses are always very professional and much appreciated but, forgive me for pointing this out: you are hardly the most active Lead A1 patch creator on this forum so your opinion on patches is somewhat less authoritative.

In the US patois they say: maybe you want to put your money where your mouth is and create an awesome A1 patch for us all to enjoy?

Yeah, we're both playing broken records, and I have no big problem with that -- the fact that we have different viewpoints one particular aspect of something doesn't mean we can't get along.

And yes, I do remember Hanon, who lives (or at least he did then -- don't know if he moved) just an hour away from me. He was AMAZING, taking orders from forum members like a short order cook at a diner. Someone would write in asking for a particular Roland D-50 program and Hanon would sample it and post it with 24 hours. Simply amazing. Then dude disappeared, never to be seen or heard from again. It was a great loss for this forum.

Everybody should do what they do best. Perhaps for me that's technical knowledge and responses and for Marlowe's that's programming and for someone else it's something else. We all bring something a little different to the table...
