BLess,

Pablo
I was creating a bend-able chord change by using a different pitch bend range for each slot, but I couldn't pitch down 6 semitones as I wanted to. There is no option to pitch bend 6, 8, 9, 11 or anything from 13 through 23 semitones. The choices appear to be very limited. I hope I'm just missing something, but I don't think so.

Is it the same for the NL4?

Edit:
It occurs to me it may be possible if I send the pitch bend MIDI information from the computer sequencer?

ah, i see. yes, that is true. first time I heard anyone describe that as limited though, or even mention it. PB on NS2 is fixed at +/- 2 semi-tones. Now THAT's limited.

Yes, if you have a need/desire to employ 6/8/9/11/etc. semi-tone bends, this can be done by setting the PB range to the next higher amount to what you seek and then determing (either by calculation or trial and error) the PB midi data needed to arrive at that bend.

Pablo

Use the wheel to create arbitrary "bends"?

true, there is also the possibility of actually bringing some performance technique into the picture...

I'm not sure I understand, but I would like to! Which function would I assign to the wheel to create an arbitrary bend?

I got the inspiration from one of the Performance presets, I believe it is called Tokyo Bend or something similar (I'm away from home at the moment and can't check). The patch begins with four slots playing in unison, then when I move the pitch stick all the way, a chord is created as each slot has a different pitch bend range. It's a beautiful effect and I hope to program something similar for a new song.

Thank you everybody for all the help so far.

That's not going to happen -- at least not in the same way. What Kroffe means by "use the wheel to create arbitrary bends" is to not bend it all the way. (not really sure why we're calling it a wheel here). If PB range is set to 2, it is still possible to bend only one semi-tone.

But this is not going to be possible if you are trying to bend four slots in differing amounts at once and resolve to a chord. At least, VASTLY more complicated. Perhaps via midi sequence, but not live.

Bless,

Pablo

OK, I mean use wheelmorph in order to have modwheel act as an alternate bend by setting morph to control pitch with different ranges is the different slots resulting in chords that can be "bent" to create new chords in the end position of the modwheel. In this way you would be able to create both positive and negative bend with arbitrary pitchranges (i e not locked to bend range presets).

Well there ya go --yet another path to the goal you seek. What will they think of next? Kroffe is DEFINITELY an NLA1 god.

Thank you, kroffe! I will try this tomorrow when I get home. I think it's going to sound great.

I appreciate your help. Also, thank you for all the wonderful presets you have created for the A1.
