Hi,
I found this topic: nord-lead-rack-forum-f12/no-sound-from-nord-lead-4-rack-t7495.html
Seems to be the same problem.
I am sending midi from Ableton. (computer-audio interface-synth)
the midi led is blinking, but no sound going out. How I have to find the right midi channel in the synth?
many thanks

Re: Midi to Nord lead r 4
The solution is in the thread you posted.
Default is "usb-midi only", set it to "din midi ports" or "usb + din midi ports".
Midi menu shift+b. Turn knob to 1, shift+turn knob.
Channels are set there as well.
P. 44 in the manual.

Re: Midi to Nord lead r 4
Ok. I got how to change to parameters just need to organize it better.
These are the options in the MIDI manu : G A B C D, each one has 16 channels to choose.
In case I want to bring in max (4 or more) midi channels and take out from the synth 4 channels out what is the best way to do that?
I set D on channel nu. 1 and A on nu. 2. I took them from the output and get both of them in my Daw.
In one of the channels in the Daw I get the 2 lines in same time (!). The other channel in the Daw getting just one line (as needs to be...)
G set on 0ff. both of them are mono channels.
Then I set B on channel nu.3 but when I tried to get the channel out nothing showed up.
I hope it is clear I bit lost because I have also new audio interface and all of these settings are wuuaaa

Re: Midi to Nord lead r 4
I'm afraid I do not understand entirely.
Are you talking about midi only, or about audio output routing as well?
G (global midi channel) has nothing to do with mono or stereo.
Forgive me, but just to get the fundamentals out of the way:
Midi transmits note information data only. It's like an orchestral score. No audio, nothing to hear.
I presume you have the rack version?
If you want every slot on a different audio output (if you have an audio interface with at least 4 inputs), I would set it up like that for example:
Midi Menu: (Shift B)
Midi Global Channel: 5 (that's the channel your masterkeyboard eventually plays the synth with)
Slot A: 1
Slot B: 2
Slot C: 3
Slot D: 4
Soft thru channel: Off
System Menu: (Shift A, that's for the audio outputs, not midi!)
Slot A: 1
Slot B: 2
Slot C: 3
Slot D: 4
If you want Stereo audio, set it to (again, audio outputs, not midi)
Slot A: 1+2
Slot B: 1+2
Slot C: 3+4
Slot D: 3+4
Or if you want all together stereo (or if your interface has only two inputs)
all on 1+2 outputs

In the beginning I was talking about midi but then the routing subject came as well.
The routing is done.
but I just almost there
Midi menu- 1 set on PU.
In case I want to get in and send out midi the options are:
1. Two 5pin cables, one in and one out connect to the audio interface.
2. Usb from the synth to the Mac.
With the USB cable the settings have to be different?
Because with the 5pin cable I get data, But when I tried with the usb I did not receive any data.
In simple words: I want to be able to tweak knob and the daw will record that as automation. I also want to have all prameters available for automation.
Many many thanks

Settings on the NL can stay the same.
If you want to use usb, you have to make sure the usb driver is installed (download from official site). Then in your DAW midi options you need to select the NL usb connection instead of your audio-interface-with-midi-ports.
