the OP makes it clear in the original post. This is a really backwards way of trying to do this. The drum machine is already there. Presumably it has a clock. The Nord does not transmit clock. There are two ways to sync these two instruments: 1) feed drum machine clock to the Nord and they will LOCK, or 2) attempt to manually sync the drum machine clock to the Nord's internal clock by ear and never get better than approximate results. If the ultimate goal is to lock the two together, #1 will produce reliable and reproducible results every time, no muss, no fuss. #2 will be pure headache. People who enjoy headaches will want to use #2.

The issue of whether of not these instruments shoulc/could have master clocks which transmit is a completely different issue and perhaps a valid one. But in the meantime users who conform their workflow methods to reality will be happier with the results they achieve.

Sorry Pablo, you are right, i misunderstood; but he says also:

So, i agree with what you says: it is not possible to implements a workflow that go in this direction, for the reasons you describe.

But this does not means that the vladmalik workflow is fundamentally wrong or backward, musically speaking it would make perfectly sense in some case;
but of course it cannot be realised with the tools he is using.
