Nord's classical Virtual Analog Synth Nord LEAD 1/2/2x/3/4/A1 and Nord Rack versions

Don't you miss a better display on the Lead?

Postby NoDirection » 07 Mar 2016, 15:08

Having two Nords already I am very unsure about buying even one more, but I really like the sound of Nord Lead A1 and it seems like the new Oberheim OB-6 will be to much of an investment right now.

But the question is - I like to tweak up some presets, and the lack of of a proper display, isn't that a serious drawback?

Playing in a (hobby) band, I need to quickly look up the songs - And especially the "Set List" on my Nord Electro 5 with song name and the typical 2 or 3 sounds I need for that song makes life easy ;)

- the A1 is nearly two years old now, and maybe there is a A2 comming up - well , only nord knows that, but the lack of named presets - do you miss it?

Yes, I miss this on my A1. Just a mini display with patch names and values (as is) would be enough.

It's def a bit of a pain. I use my lead 4 for live shows and I always have to scribble down set notes for this synth regarding patched. I've never had to do that with my live synths before and it's def a pain. I thought when purchasing i wouldn't mind so much but overtime it's been pretty annoying.

Sure, I would have preferred a text display, but you learn to deal with it. The A1 has so much greatness coming out of it that I forget about the lack of a proper display.

Then again, as Nord now seem to have sourced a good display for their Electros and Pianos, I am pretty sure the next Lead will have it!
