A few problems with Nord Lead 3

Postby login » 25 Sep 2015, 05:44

Hi, I have a few problems wiht my nord lead 3:

- Pitch bend doesnt track down
- Pitch bend increases volume when using it to bend up
- Master volume knob seems to affect very little the master volume (the pitch bend increases the volume way more).

Does anyone had had this issues before? Anyone knows how to fix them?

Sounds like the pitch stick needs to be replaced and the the master level pot needs to be looked at, which are jobs for a pro tech. In Canada the #1 expert is Marcel Nault in Montreal. Please contact me via my regular work contacts shown below and I can put you in touch with him.

Thanks a lot, unfortunately I am in Mexico which would make very expensive sending the unit internationally. Local repair could be an option but would like to know what is hapenning.

I just tried the Pitch stick controlling other synths and recording MIDI to DAW, it works just fine trnasmitting the spected values.

I also tried controlling the NL3 from other controller and pitch bend worked as expected.

it is quite strange, as if the pitchbend stick is working as the volume knob.

First of all, are your sure it's not just due to the way your synth had been programmed? Have you checked the Pitch Bend Range settings? Manual p.18/19. The Pitch Bend range can be set separately for up and down, so it's possible to set the Pitch Stick to only bend up, for example.

As far as the Pitch Stick affecting volume, that shouldn't be possible in normal operation as far as I can see. The Pitch Stick can't be used as a Morph controller, for example.

If you're sure that it's a technical problem, then I'm afraid it can only be diagnosed by someone actually having a look at it. Sorry, but a trip to your local tech is unavoidable in that case.

Thanks a lot RedLeo, nothing to do with programing. I think I will seek a tech around here.
