Writing Performances on a 4D

Postby Nordster » 06 Aug 2014, 19:30

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to write a "performance" on the Electro 4D via a computer program from Nord. For instance, can I load a clavinet sound on the lowest octave, piano into the next two octaves, and organ into the rest of the keyboard. If so, can you tell me where to find info on this? THANKS!

The answer to your first question is Yes, I can tell you...
It is not possible to create a performance patch on this or any other monotimbral electronic keyboard.

If you have raw samples, you can use the nord sample editor to build something like that and save it as a "single" sound on the keyboard.

I'm not looking to "overlay" sounds, just split my keyboard into 2 or three different sections (different sound in each section). That's possible via the Sample Editor, right?

That is correct. Armed with .wav files of your desired sounds you can map them to your keyboard as you wish. Only your imagination limits you in that regard...

Thanks, Pablo.
Hopefully I can figure this out! Are there any references you can suggest?

My apologies... When I read the word "Performance", I thought you were asking how to be able to play multiple, internal "programs" simultaneously from an Electro.

The issue there was/is that on many other keyboards the word "performance" takes on a special meaning -- one which has no bearing in the world of Nord Stage or Electro (but does in the synths).

Get the Nord Sample Editor manual and watch also the tutorial videos available on Nord website, the rest is a matter of trials and errors (hopefully not many), till you will get what you want ;)
