Why doesn't Leslie sim work? Electro 5D

Postby jjtmd » 13 Aug 2017, 17:52

Hi Everybody, I just got my Electro 5D and have been getting familiar with it. It seems that certain programs I create layering piano with organ won't allow the leslie rotary sim to operate. The green light flashes momentarily, then goes out. What's going on? Thanks, Jim

Is the rotary effect enabled in the effects section on the right side of the panel?

Just got my 5D, too, and would like to add another question: (1) Why isn't the default for ANY use of the Organ to have the Leslie sim ALWAYS set at Rotary "on"? Seems to me the added step of setting up what ought to be intuitively "on" isn't very user friendly. Can't quite see the logic in NOT making Rotary a global (automatic) setting for Organ, just as...:

(2)... I can't see the logic in NOT making the volume pedal Control "on" a global setting for ALL sounds. Vol control using a pedal is indeed "on" for some sounds, including (thankfully) Organ sounds. However, beyond that for non-organ sounds there's no obvious logic for when the volume Control default is "on" or "off".

Perhaps Nord believes no one is using volume pedals as much anymore, but I wouldn't fit that bill. Any chance there's a global setting I'm missing, or will I simply have to save each sound I want to use in a User program list with the Volume Control set at "on" for each one?

I don't mind having to change control settings through the Shift key (white or yellow), but it would sure make more sense to determine what a default most commonly should be and then have the shift key used for exceptions.

Totally agree. With every program I make I tend to forget to turn the Shift Controlped On. Should be default On. Not sure if I agree with the Leslie though.

Since there's no guarantee of future OS updates incorporating suggestions, my hope is that once I've learned the system, I can save whatever program settings I want in any of the 200 the individual user program slots, or at least the Song and Set Lists. Expression pedal, Leslie (Spkr/Comp) settings, etc. We'll see.
