wake me up before you go go

Postby daffyduxxx » 17 Sep 2011, 13:11

Hi,
alas, my band has decided to cover Wham's Wake me up before you go go.Actually, once you start playing it, it's quite a fun song to play.
My question is, I struggle with drawbar settings and knowing what they actually do to the sound, so presuming it is a Hammond used in this song.Could anyone give me an idea of what drawbar / leslie etc setings to use for the organ sound.
Many thanks for your help guys.
Paul

Hi Paul.
it's some type of synth organ patch.
One music video shows a guy playing a Korg T3, and another shows a Sequential Circuits Prophet-5,
but the studio recording could have been done with almost any synth made before 1984 (year of release).
I'll try to post back later with either a sample or drawbutton settings.
Cheers, Hanon

Hi Paul,
This tune can be pulled off nicely using a B3 organ model with the following drawbutton registration:
588400000 no chorus or vibrato, no percussion, slow rotary speaker most of the time but switched to fast at the end verses and choruses to emphasize change.

The bottom drawbutton can be pushed in a little further to emphasize the nasal tone of the synth organ.

As an alternate solution, you might also try the synth samples of the Nord library:
Prophet-5 P5 Click Organ BR
Roland JX-3P Organ 1 PH

Cheers, Hanon
