Re: Trouble when I hit the keys heavily

I've had this experience. Mostly when playing ragtime & stride. I've attributed it to the extension of fingers not active at the moment and which extend forward hitting and changing the 1 - 5 piano settings. That can be ascertained by paying attention to where on the keyboard your hands are when the machine changes settings. I think you'll find your hands are just in front of that 1 - 5 key pad. On honky-tonk pianos the back board gets scratched when one's finger nails hit it; on the Nord's the piano setting gets changed. Try slipping a 3 x 5 card stock at the back of the keybed just in front of that keypad; it will 'jump' if your finger 'trespasses'.
