Trouble fixing Nord Stand Ex to Electro 5 HP?
Hi,
I have recently bought a Nord Stand Ex for my Electro 5 HP but I am having trouble attaching the crossbars. I have rechecked the instructions multiple times, making sure that I have the correct legs attached to the front/rear etc but everything should be correct.
The crossbars feel like they are two long and/or it looks as though they would fit with two nut rivets instead of the one there is on this model.
Can anyone help?
Katherine

Hej Katherine!
I was also amazed when I unpacked my EX Stand and tried to put it on my NS2.
You have to try turning the crossbars 180 degrees a couple of times until you get it right.
Some force is involved and you have to unscrew the lower parts of the legs quite a bit.
You might also need to grow a second pair of hands ...

Marlowes/kgillham..same here of on the legs…. attached them to a NE5HP…. Looks like you kinda have to work them in….. they are almost too long .. i just hope with practice it might go easier… I know the instructions say you need the cross bars but I just might not use them.. What could happen? …. In my fender rhodes days, the legs were much easier to attach … BUT they were HEAVY ….. that being said .. I love the legs.. makes the NE5HP very solid .. fits in my NORD bag with the NOrd music stand … saves a trip or two into the gig…. I don't think I would trust a Nord on an X stand or any other stand.. the Nord is just took light … and on a busy stage one accidental bump and there it goes… what do you think Pablo about not attaching the cross bars?

Better put those cross bars! Really it needs to be a triangular structure somewhere to give the setup stability.asandel wrote: I know the instructions say you need the cross bars but I just might not use them.. What could happen? …

Re: Trouble fixing Nord Stand Ex to Electro 5 HP?
I've used the Nord Stand EX with both my Stage 76 (classic) and Stage 2 76 for many years (and hundreds of gigs) without the crossbars. I too found assembly to be challenging and cumbersome. Often I'm in situations where set up and/or take down has to happen fast and there's just not enough time to struggle with them. While there is no arguing that your keyboard will be more stable with the cross bars attached, I have never encountered any issues or problems whatsoever while not using them. It may be different with an 88 since it's longer and heavier, but I've never owned one so I can't comment on that. Considering that the Electro 5 HP is slightly smaller (and much lighter) then the Stage 76, I would imagine that you should not have any major problems forgoing the crossbars. Good luck!

Re: Trouble fixing Nord Stand Ex to Electro 5 HP?
Thank you so much everyone.
I would really like to try and attach the crossbars as they seem to give a lot more stability to the structure. Does anyone have any pictures of how they have managed to assemble these with their Electro 5 HP if they have managed it? It says on the Nord website they are compatible but I cannot see how!

The diagonal struts are purposely made to "not fit." You have to stress them slightly to force them to fit. This results in a MUCH stronger and more stable structure.

For comodity reason, I have never used the cross bar as well without any stability problem on my NEx HP's.

Re: Trouble fixing Nord Stand Ex to Electro 5 HP?
I had the same problem with my Nord Electro 5HP and the Nord Keyboard Stand EX. I thought I bought the wrong stand, but it turns out it's the correct one. I understand the structure needs some "tension" to improve "stability" (vee video linked below at 5:02), but they've overdone it! So, after hesitating (I didn't want to damage my new keyboard stand because then I could not return if my solution didn't work out), I decided just to adjust a bit (with pliers!) the angles of the tops of the crossbars so they would fit better. Now I still have tension but it fits.
Hope this is helpful!

Re: Trouble fixing Nord Stand Ex to Electro 5 HP?
When my 4HP was new, I tried leaving out the crossmembers exactly once, just to see the difference. Never again. Altogether too wiggly for me without them.
(With practice, deploying the crossmembers consumes less than one additional minute. Tearing down, less than another 30 seconds.)
