Just got a Nord HP 5 the other day, and am loving it! I use it mainly for piano, EP, and synth, but was just taking the organ out for a spin today and have a question.
I am an Organ-newbie, and watched this great video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQMhMlA ... xO4ge9bAf0
Love the sound when he triggers the rotary at the end of each phrase while going through drawbar settings (@2:50). Is there a way i can do this without having to switch my sustain pedal to rotary when playing organ? Can I just have the rotary be defaulted on? The nord manual has no explanation of how the rotary functions work (HOLD mode etc), so im a bit stumped.

Re: Trigger Rotary without Pedal?
The rotary speed switches are on the bottom left hand side of the front panel.
If the "stop mode" is engaged (light on), then the lower switch toggles between stop and fast.
If stop mode is off the lower switch toggles between slow and fast.
And, of course, for rotary to be on at all it has to be engaged in the effects section for that program.
Have fun!

Re: Trigger Rotary without Pedal?
When you store your sound the position of the rotary switch is also stored so you will always get it back when recalling the program (I think so at least). But if you ask me it is best to use the swich while you play since it adds a great deal of expression. You can hook up and use a footswitch for this purpose.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Since we're on the subject ... what pedals do you use with your electro? I can't tell if swell should be operated by the volume-type large pedal, or if I should get one of the smaller 'stomp' style square switches.
Thanks
Andy

Re: Trigger Rotary without Pedal?
I actually prefer to use a halfmoon switch since it is very handy and resembles how many organ players operated the real Leslie. Nord has one (http://www.nordkeyboards.com/products/n ... ccessories) but it's pretty expensive. I found a cheaper and nicer looking one made by a Polish maker Organic Sound (http://www.organicsound.com.pl/pl/halfmoon). It cost arround 80 Eur and works like a charm. See their video on YT (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbI7QZj2UPY).
But you can use just an ordinary footswitch that costs much less if you wish. I think any standard footswitch with a momentary contact (that is most of them) will do. I used to use one of these: http://www.proel.com/index.php?route=pr ... ct_id=5385 before got my hands on the halfmoon switch.

Re: Trigger Rotary without Pedal?
I just ordered a halfmoon switch from Ashby solutions http://music.ashbysolutions.com/moon.htm
Should arrive Saturday in time for a gig. It's $85, so much cheaper than the nord solution. Will report back on how it works out.

I use a simple switch pedal (cheap sustain pedal) for this and it works perfectly.

Re: Trigger Rotary without Pedal?
I got the halfmoon switch from Ashby solutions http://music.ashbysolutions.com/moon.htm Saturday morning, just in time for a gig that evening. It's a little taller than I expected so mounting it in the traditional spot (the front side, perpendicular to the keybed) was awkward. It seemed like the switch would be in the way. I ended up using the velcro strips to mount it on the left end wood plate. This worked great. It's really liberating to not have to search for the button and to be able to feel where your setting is without looking.
It has three positions that equate to: fast, stop and slow.
edit: Also, I did the whole gig with the just the Nord 5D 61 for the first time. Left the big ol heavy hammond xk3c at home and the Nord did great!

it looked like that last question of yours got ignored...
SWELL function should use a continuous pedal, NOT stompbox

Thnx for this info. But in the picture of their website it seems like it should fit nicely when mounted in usual position: http://music.ashbysolutions.com/GHM_mounted.jpg. My OrganicSound halfmoon switch is in about the same position as in said photo and I find it quite handy and non-obstructive.
