Superstition sound

Postby Lee Batchelor » 16 Oct 2016, 17:08

Hi team,

Got my new Electro 5D and just loving it!!!!! Can anyone tell me what sound you use for Stevie Wonder's Superstition? I know he uses three other keyboard players but I just want the main voice. Many thanks.

Hi
The Clavinet sound.
But you should program it yourself. Easy and it's a pleasure to do it :-)
Cheers

Start with a D6 clavinet and some (auto)wah?

Agreed. The Clavinet voices are straight. Stevie Wonder uses an Hohner Clavinet D6. He plays the song in Eb minor. Sadly, I haven't found anything on the Electro that comes close. Perhaps it's there?

Check out this video. These guys are using Stage 2's but it's all the same. It looks like pickup b and eq brilliant and treble on.

ebowen4221, thanks for posting that video.
I had never realized how much "swing" was in those rhythms - when I hear the original song and just enjoy it without thinking about it, I am not thinking "swing" rhythms.

Yes, thanks ebowen. I had seen that video a few years ago and forgot those two players were using Nords. Thanks!

According to the song's wiki page, he used a model C for that song.
