I found that boosting the clav's sound by tuning it an octave down, using the equalizer and adding compression helps a lot. The sounds are too thin as they come.

Okay, now I have some serious homework! I also have a Tyros 5. It has the exact voice right at my fingertips!!! No muss, no fuss.

There's also a tiny bit of delay in the original too.

It's worth hunting down the multitracks - it shows there's two maybe three separate Clav parts, plus numerous effects. Whole thing over just 16 tracks. Incredible.

Thanks Dmingay. I have seen the concert version and Stevie uses three additional keyboard players. None of them are doing that much, however, three guys playing a little = a ton of extra sound!! I always wondered (no pun intended) why I couldn't get the exact licks down for this song :)!

Lee,
One of the factory programs is already setup for this with the clav split left and the horns split right... it might even be in the Setlist as Superstitious. If you don't need the horns, just turn off the upper sound/KB Split.

For the benefit of those who have an Electro 3 or 4, could someone who has the Electro 5 share which Electro settings values are used the clav part of this Electro 5 factory programs, and which Clav sound is used?
Thanks,
Carl.

Al, if I may...can you tell me the exact name I need to download from the Nord site? I deleted most of the Synth Samples from my 5D because I own a Tyros 5, which outclasses the Nord 100/1 in terms of voices - not pianos, organs, or EPs though!

Thanks....

Program on ths NE5D is "Clav Brass Split"
Lower = Clavinet D6 A (though I think pickup position B or D may be a better choice)
Upper = BrassSect Pop 2 (you might want to shift the octave down to be able get the lower E on one of the horn lines)
Split point = E above middle C
