splits
So am I reading this right? The Electro can't do splits between an Acoustic piano and an organ? That seems like a really basic feature left off?

Re: splits
Yeah. The Nord Electro is monotimbral. It can only play one sound at a time.
Only The Nord Stage series can split/layer sounds.

Re: splits
hi Localguit.
the NE3 has a MIDI IN and a MIDI OUT connection. but the NE has no master function for controlling external devices. so the MIDI IN jack is for controlling the NE from another master. the MIDI OUT jack is mainly for making an organ MIDI SPLIT, which means you can connect yet another keybed and play dual keyboards with different registry settings.
like Cbas wrote the NE is not multitimbral, so you can't make a split of the internal sounds (besides the organ split i mentioned above...).
hope this helps.

yep! sure you can do that. but you can't use one of the internal acoustic piano samples and split it with the internal organ.
you can surely mix an acoustic piano sample and an organ sample and load it into the NE3. but then again, you wont be using the onboard organ engine...

Re: splits
I was pretty much told you could split sounds on the Electro. Too late now as I already own it. The Sample Editor could do it but as far as I can tell, it only accepts .wav files. The Nord samples are not in that format. It would be nice if those sounds could open in the editor so you could spread some different sounds out across the keys. Maybe I'm wrong. Is there a way to get the Nord Samples into the Sample Editor?

Re: splits
There is alternative product from Korg - Korg SV1. Korg SV1 73 is similar to NE3 HP but has less features : 1) SV1 has no drawbar organ clone; 2) SV1 has no sampler. But there is one thing SV1 can do - it has fixed split bass/piano presets (Even it is monotimbral). I love my NE3 but sometimes I hate to use B3 all the time if I have to cover bass lines. I'm too lazy to carry additional synth just to cover bass. I'm happy with the rest of NE3 features.
I wish Clavia would offer something similar. It should not be too difficult.
