Sound transition on NE5HP

Postby blacklodge » 23 Jul 2017, 10:20

Hello everyone.

I have a NE5HP and I like it a lot. I won't talk about the smooth transition which is a fantastic feature on NS3 though I think it is a cardinal sin for NORD to have think about it only now, and just on one model. Capital sin.
It's happen that yesterday in a shop I played a NS2Ex. I've noticed that the sound transition is much faster on NS2ex than on my NE5HP. Why? Sensibly faster. Immediate.

So...it's because the engine of the NS2ex is more powerful than NE5HP or for some other reason. How can I reach that speed with my NE5HP. It would be very important for me.
If I empty some memory in my electro can I get more speed? Now it is almost full.

PLease let me know. Maybe it's too early for me to buy a NS3, (and way too expensive, I'll wait for some used one) but I'd love to, but having a faster sound transition would be an important step forward for my performance.

The speed in switching programs depends on the firmware and HW, so it is a characteristic of each model, it has nothing to do with how many programs you have in memory or not, so I am sorry but you can just accept it and don't expect you can improve it by any "magic"

Can you describe the exact transitions you're talking about? (There are many kinds of transitions... i.e. switching from one program to another via scroll knob, switching from one live location to another with a button, switching from a piano sound to another piano sound within the same program, switching from a piano sound to an organ sound within the same program, and so on... plus in the case of the Stage, also switching from one slot to another.)

I'm talking ab out switching from on live location to another with a button.
I realise that it depends on the sample. If on my NE5 I change from a Mellotron string to a Mellotron Choir the change is slow, a little less than half second.
The NS2Ex which I played didn't have mellotron in the live bnutton ready. Anyway they were samples and electric piano and the change was immediate.

Once back home I played my electro and I've noticed that some transitions are faster than others. Not considering organ which have a different kind of engine. PIano and samples. Probably a heavy sample requires more time to charge...or a piano.
