Save transpose setting

Postby Gerald » 03 Dec 2016, 22:39

Hello evrybody,

I tempt without succes to save my settings and more particulary the transpose setting. I tried MIDI CC and SysEx and the Dunp function... but in all cases the setting of "transpose" is not saved. I have you an idea to save it ? I have not the same value of "transpose" in many programs and I must at each time set it manually..
Thank you for your help

Gerald, when you save a program, the transpose setting is saved. Remember, there is a separate transpose setting for a program, and then there's the Global transpose that moves the key of the whole instrument. For example, if your guitarist tunes to E flat, you can use the Global transpose to move the 5D down a semi-tone (-1). Then play your regular keys. Make sense?

Also, make sure the Memory lock is turned Off. Perhaps someone else could verify my comments?

Thanks Lee for your answer, but on my Nord 4d electro I have only the global transpose (number 3 under System) and this setting is not saved with the program.
I cannot find another transpose (local for the program) in the manual... have you a trick ?

Lee, your comments are correct -- for your NE5. The NE4 feature set is different. Gerald, you are correct -- your NE4 has a single transpose feature, the Global Transpose function located in the System Menu. It is not storable on a per program basis. There is no "trick" available to you to accomplish this on your NE4.

Bless, Pablo

Hi Pablo,

Thank you very much for your answer... it was also my own conclusion... I must ask a NE5 as Christmas gift :)

But if Santa don't agree... do you know a MIDI CC or a SYS EX able to order the NE4 to transpose ? If yes, I can do a little program to do that via MIDI-USB !

Best regards !

No sysex solution, and no midi cc solution either. But why would Santa not agree? Have you been a bad boy?

Thanks for clearing that up, Pablo. As I recall, I looked at a Nord about eight years ago and noticed the transpose function was buried deep in a menu. I turned down the Nord on that basis. I'm so glad Nord finally realized that some players need Transpose at their fingertips. It's still not perfect but being able to store a transpose setting is a great improvement.

I also neglected to notice Gerald is playing the 4D. It would be even better if there were a dedicated Transpose button on the main deck, just like Roland and Yamaha. Gerald, start that letter campaign to Santa for the 5D. It's not too late. Hurry before he runs out of stock :)!

Thank you Lee and Pablo...

I have been almost an "angel" all this year... :) :) (hmmm may be... not at all) but the problem is : Santa gave me the 4D... last year.
Seriously... this problem of "Transpose" is really the only one "default" I notice on my 4D... but I can continue to navigate in the menu... a little bit "stressing" in live... but not really a big problem.
Thank you both and have a happy Christmas with a lot of musical Santa's gifts :) :)

Hi guys!

Been a happy electro 2 73 keys owner for like 10 years! Always used it together with my Yamaha CP5 connected via MIDI! Never any problems... so I played the piano sound @ Yamaha and layered with the electro 2 B3 or Rhodes. Also if I transposed the Yamaha CP5, it would transpose my electro's sound too....

NOW I have an electro 5D too - and I would love to replace my Yamaha CP5... IF I use the electro 5D as main board and MIDI to my electro 2 - it doesn't send the transpose data....But it does change sound every time I change sound at the Electro 5D (which I would love it NOT to do)....

I asked a guy, and he said I might have to buy and program some pretty expensive MIDI box to be able to send a transpose.... from an electro 5D to an electro 2 - is that a fact?

I'm totally a live player - so my MIDI skills are almost non exsisting.... can U guys help?

Cheers,

Sune

Saving ? I'll be happy just to find out how to do a basic transpose down a key. The instruction manual is a bit confusing - either that or I'm as thick as mince... Anyhow, how do you transpose on a Nord Electro 5D 61 ? Anyone know ? The manual says, 'a single press of the button'. What button ? Thanks for yer help - I just got the instrument a few days ago. Happy happy happy - it sounds fab.
