Can I split my keyboard and only have the rotary on the upper half? it appears as if the rotary is forced on both the upeer and lower half.
I have a nord electro 5. I want rotary only on one half because I play rhythm with the lower half and more lead like stuff on the top. My style is reggae. Is it odd but the rotary on for the bottom half I think sounds worse.

Re: Rotary and Split Keyboard
Can you do that on a real Hammond? No, you can't and so does the Electro because the Organ is one single "section" (even if it has a Upper and Lower manual) so it is sent to the Rotary effect as a whole.
What you can do is to switch off the Chorus/Vibrato from the individual manual, e.g. the lower, to differentiate its "vibrations".

Yeah I did turn off the chorus/vibrato for the lower one. I wonder if I use midi out then if it will not use the rotary. I think that would work.

Re: Rotary and Split Keyboard
MIDI does not transmit any sound at all. It is purely information used to play and control other instruments — sort of like how music notation contains all information needed to play a piece. If you hold up the paper to your ear, it doesn’t sound anything like an orchestra.
So assigning part of the manual to MIDI doesn’t do anything to the sound of the Nord, and it doesn’t do anything at all unless you hook up another sound generator.

The Nord giveth; the Nord taketh away…

Re: Rotary and Split Keyboard
A lot of reggae has piano or clav playing one part and organ playing another part. So you could set you NE5 up to do piano/clav on one part (no rotary) and organ on the other part (with rotary).
Nords: NE2, NS2 88, NS3 Compact x 2
Live rig: NS3, Vent, Radial KL-8, Shure PSM-900 IEM Rig, UE18 & UE7 IEMs.
Studio: Hammond A-101 & Leslie 122, Yamaha CP-80, Yamaha S90, NS2, DSI Prophet-6, Vent II, Roland JX-8P.
