Quick move between program banks?
Is there any way of moving quickly to the next bank in the Programs?
I'm thinking there are 2 reasons for at all having banks:
1. Organizing sounds into similar sounds or needs.
2. Being able to find the perfect sound quickly.
Number one is fine, specially with the sound mgr, but on the piano itself I haven't found any way to e.g. quickly move to bank 3 when on a sound in bank 1 - it's just laps of scrolling...
Surely I've missed something..?

Re: Quick move between program banks?
Hm, that was interesting...
But I guess that's pretty similar to making a setlist in the NE5D itself.
What I was looking for was simplified browsing between programs without having made a setlist of selected programs first.

Re: Quick move between program banks?
Turn the Prog/Menu knob faster when you want to jump to a "far" Bank/program, browsing speed is proportional to the knob rotation speed.

Re: Quick move between program banks?
My Nord Lead A1 can jump faster using the SHIFT button. I don't know if it works on my NE5D.
maxpiano is right, browsing speed is proportional to the knob rotation speed on all Nords.

That just puts me in List view.criss wrote:My Nord Lead A1 can jump faster using the SHIFT button. I don't know if it works on my NE5D.

Tried different combinations with Shift but doesn't seem to do anything after putting me in List view.
Yup, noticed that.maxpiano wrote:Turn the Prog/Menu knob faster when you want to jump to a "far" Bank/program, browsing speed is proportional to the knob rotation speed.
But not exactly what I was looking for.
What I'm after is a one-jump button+knob one-click between the banks.
Something like button+scroll one to go to 2:01, button+scroll one to get to 3:01.
I was hoping there was some method for this, but I guess there just isn't.

Re: Quick move between program banks?
The only thing I ever had to replace on my Stage 2 was the program dial. On the Stage 3, it is going to get a lot of use, so I hope it is a robust part!

Its one of the things I don't like about the Nord user interface. No program/bank buttons. You can do this externally though.fieldflower wrote: What I'm after is a one-jump button+knob one-click between the banks.

An iPad with touchOSC makes it very simple to create bank, program or (bank and program) buttons. It can access anything you can get at with Midi.
I have an iPad Mini (velcro'd) to the top left of the my NE5D running TouchOSC with 20 program buttons on it so I can instantly switch to different patches without having to try and turn a dial exactly 19 clicks. I don't even have to watch the OLED display, just a single touch on the iPad.
It does require a MIDI interface cable or box from the iPad though. I'm using an iConnnectMIDI2+ because it also powers the iPad. It's attached to my keyboard stand with a small camera quick release plate so I can attach and remove the interface. It also secures the box so I don't have to worry about cables getting moved and unplugged while I'm playing.

OK, I guess that would take me half-way.cgrafx wrote:Its one of the things I don't like about the Nord user interface. No program/bank buttons. You can do this externally though.fieldflower wrote: What I'm after is a one-jump button+knob one-click between the banks.

But for my use I think having those 20 programs in 5 Setlists - then it's max 4 scroll clicks + one button.
Or does the iPad allow to switch easily between the banks of programs also without pre-programming the favourites so it's easy to choose only between the favourites?

Re: Quick move between program banks?
TouchOSC can be configured any way you want. You get to design the layout of the buttons and control what each one does. Its not a fixed layout, but completely user configurable.
I needed something quick, so only did a couple rows of buttons, but it could easily be 50 buttons for 50 programs, or 10 bank buttons and 50 program buttons.
You could even add sliders to represent the b3 drawbars, and have a larger display to show you the current settings.
Actually if the stage outputs midi for all the settings, you could even use it as a large status display to show you what values are currently programed for various parameters that don't show up on the front panel.
